This is ridiculous, a trapper thief can spam traps under my feet that immediately proc and never get revealed out of stealth. Then he’d dodge and drop caltrops.
ALL WHILE STILL INVIS
Rune of the Trapper. Good addition to game.
+Condi on Vuln stacks. Good addition to game.
Spammable stealth with all mechanics preventing them from being revealed.

So, you took the video from this thread in the Thieves forum, ignored all the discussions done on the thread, and went to the General Discussion forum to QQ?
That guy in the vid ain’t even you, and i doubt you’ve actually met one firsthand.
And the thief in the video even admitted to getting lucky with Steal resetting his traps. (Improvisation GM trait)

This build is a trolling build, much like 1HKO killshot warriors, it works on clueless players, but not viable in anything outside of WvW roaming.

If you do want to blame something, blame the rune, not the thief.

I saw the video on a lovely website called youtube. And much as I have ‘free time’ on my hands to peruse all the forum posts, I decided to pop it as an example.

I have met one firsthand, I’ve tried one first hand. I’ve even dueled one first hand. But all of that is an understatement. Please do not patronize and pretend that you are the only one experienced enough whilst all others around are hard of comprehension or experience.

Addressing the viability issue: As roamer and avid WvW player, most of my log-in time is spent in there. And also untrue as the trap build (without the trapper rune) in SPvP is not something to be taken lightly.

My issue is not with a nerf to the thief (which as all die-hards tend to say, have been ‘nerfed’), my issue is with the mechanic.
I.E, the general viability of PVT-style dire gear that allow for high tankiness while still providing great condition damage boosts.
The second mechanic, is that of the traps: ranger traps reveal them from stealth once triggered. Thief traps are completely void of that.

And in ending this spiel of mine, your comment of “hasn’t been nerfed enough =_=”, draws me to an alarming conclusion about your particular skillset:
- Unload p/p is the strongest it has been in right now,
- S/p is a fun high risk build that with haste and rage sigil can be used twice via starting animation and using steal/infil signet
- S/d is still strong
- P/d condi hasn’t changed and still powerful.

Thus, to enlighten you, the conclusion I reach about you and your ‘nerf’ comment is that you are a very skilless player, with grave attachments to a particulary old and now useless play-style, you cannot change your preset build to suit the changes in the current meta. Or you are simply a ‘troll’ as you so kindly accused me.

I have said my piece. I honestly would not have even re-read this had I not been privately messaged and told my post was moved.

Condi p/d sucks just like everything but SA d/p and maybe DD s/d. Have you missed CiS becoming a GM?

Play in squad it seems is not about duels nor is WvW supposed to be balanced.

As to your points, trap builds in sPvP are a joke. It is much better for team comps to take a mobile decap +1 thief that runs the traditional D/P build. sPvP trap thieves can absolutely be taken lightly.

The devs purposefully changed thief traps to not reveal the user when sprung. I can only guess, but I assume it is because thief traps don’t have the same level of impact as ranger or DH traps. It is also much more punishing for a thief to have revealed then a ranger or DH.

P/P is strong, about kitten time. But is a one trick pony.
S/P is a one trick pony X2.
S/D is only strong against bad players, the dodges that made it strong were stolen and put on DD.
P/D is in a decent place right now.
The Ghost Teef build you originally posted about is a one trick pony X42. It relies on RNG to get traps recharged and any decent player will cleanse, and not stand in AoE.

I get you don’t like tanky condi specs in WvW, welcome to the club. Take -duration food and some cleanse and L2P.

As the OP of the “So this happened” thread and the maker of the video I have to agree with the OP of this thread that the current perma stealth trap thief is pretty ridiculous whether it is a “viable” build for anything but roaming or not.

Bristleback can’t hit anything? Let’s fix the HP bug instead.

With how badly they gutted the most fun Thief set-up, S/D- we deserve a build like this.

Anet fixing these runes turned my thief from an item mule into a playable character
