Actually would like unarmed weapons, they could just make it knuckle weapons or spikes just so you have something with stats to equip. Have it be fastest weapon in the game, low damage, couple stuns and dazes, with 1-2 attacks that have a chance on hit to do like direct condition damage (like 20% chance apply: 2000 poison damage for 1s)

It should especially be done for the OH. While I don’t like being “forced” to dual-wield weapons (or use a 2 hander) with any profession, it particularly bugs me on the thief because they’re so obviously built around it when they shouldn’t be.

I agree with this. The Thief class was supposed to be just that, a Thief. Not an Venomous Assassin or a Shadow-Jumping X-Man.

I really wish that I could have played a non-dual wielding, non-poison using, non-invisible using Thief. A dagger or short sword in one hand, and an empty hand to poke my enemy in the eye if he gets too close. I’m tired of being typecasted into a super-stealth-ninja-assassin-dual wielding-one-shotting-hand-of-doom, I just want to be a cowardly scumbag with a shiv and a pocket full of dirty tricks.

Elthurien, do you know, that you can play thief without a single venom or stealth skill? Venoms are optional, stealth is recommended, but they are not a must. Use short bow or pistol in off hand, and withdraw as a healing utility.

I would love to see fist weapons instead of some stupid sniper rifles on my thief. And a mace in main hand.

And where did you got this information from? Because it’s simply wrong.
ArenaNet came up with some archetypes they wanted to have in their game.
One of them was the Assassin. How they named that Archetype (after one single mechanic they gave him, Steal) doesn’t really matter and says nothing about what the profession actually does besides that mechanic.

Most of the classes actually got their mechanics from GW 1 professions, so the Elementalist became the Elementalist, the Mesmer the Mesmer, the Warrior the Warrior, the Ritualist the Engeneer (complete theme and name change, but they took the mechanics), the Ranger became the Ranger, the Necromancer the Necromancer, the Paragon kinda the Guardian, and suprise, the Assassin became the Thief.

On the topic:

I would love Fists (knuckles) or so as weapons, not as simply unarmed thing (which wouldnt work, since you need the weapon stats etc.).
Would make a cool dual wield weapon.

Who doesn’t wants to punch the target, just to stab them afterwards?

Sounds pretty cool, with OH unarmed being dirty tricks.

Something like Unarmed #4: Kick in the shin, cripples X-secs and evade back. Unarmed #5: Nut Shot, a dirty kick that dazes the target.

Or Dagger/Unarmed #3: Pokes target in the eye and stabs him in the back :P

But i honestly can’t Unarmed MH though, it seems more like something for the warrior.

i’d like to see one of the unarmed abilities to be a parry/counter on parry ability since i don’t think the thief has very many of those. kinda like the warrior offhand sword ability but instead of sword it be your fist. and maybe the 5th can be a cheap shot ability causing 1 random condition like confusion daze stun or blind with probability for the stronger ones to be low while something like confusion and daze are high. not sure what to put for 1 2 and 3 though

I was thinking more like “Muay Thai” fighting style, with quick strikes and kick boxing, the combos would not be as much damage as daggers would be, but cost a bit less and be more for tanking.

“1(1chain) – (some kind of punch.) – Does damage.
“1(2chain) – (some kind of flip kick.) – Does damage, restores endurance.
“1(3chain) – (some kind of punch and kick combo.) – Does half the damage of the other two, but is an evasion move and also restores 1 initative.

“2(1chain) – (1 initative) Knuckle Swipe – Does Damage, Causes 2 Vulnerability.
“2(2chain) – (2 initative) Gut Punch – Does Damage, Causes 5 Vulnerability.
“2(3chain) – (3 initative) Leg Thrust – Does High Damage, Evasion.

“3 – (4 Initiative) Blocks, if block is successful dazes and throws the target down.
“3 – (1 Initiative.) if you click it during block.) Feint the block and kick your target, causing push back and does little damage, you gain evasion for this duration.

“4 – (5 initiative.) Cobra Strike – x8 Hits, the first hit causes poison, you gain evasion for its channeling but cannot move.

“5 – (6 Initative.) Cobra Stance – Increases damage taken by 100% for 3 seconds, Gain Quickness for 3 seconds and you gain one initiative each time you successfully hit your target for the next 3 seconds. (this move could screw you.)

“1(Stealth.) Trip your target, causing knockdown and 10 vulnerability, this attack does very little damage.

The fighting style would resemble how Teras Kasi fight in SWG.
