I have been using a condition thief with d/d to level. Right now I am around level 40 and have been trying to do some WvW since around the 20 mark.

Is condition viable in WvW? I’ve watched videos and have not seen many bleed/cond thieves, just a lot of glass cannon crit thieves.

I’m pretty sure d/d is viable with a sb in WvW, I would just like some insight into the trait and stat build.

Are you trying to level in WvW?

D/D bleed is quite viable, though not as survivable as P/D builds in most cases. if it is what you want to focus on though it does free up trait points from shadow arts, since you wont be going in and out of stealth. main trait focuses should be trickery and acrobatics, for condition damage and dodging ability.

another option is to mix both D/D and P/D, so you have both single target and AoE bleed options. if that is the route you go, just be sure to keep a short bow handy in your bags for sieges. then the base build is 0/0/30/20/20

either way, carrion gear is usually the way to go. the P/D build can also use apothecary gear to great effect, trading out damage for an increase in survivability.

Well, I’ve been leveling through questing/exploring, but I want to start WvW. So when I’m playing on the map, I would like to gain experience from it.

WvW is tough at lower levels. Especially when you go 1v1 someone who is actually 80 because with the gear difference you won’t stand a chance. I would recommend staying with zergs to increase the chances of survivability. I prefer D/D & SB but have not messed around with other weapon combos too much. Mostly bleed build also.

Yeah I’m level 45 and I’m trying to level in WVW and make sure you avoid 1v1 at all cost. Just bring a shortbow and maybe pistols or something cause its best to stay at range. At least that’s what I’ve found to be the best.

I’m currently sort of alterning leveling between dynamic events runs and WvW. Currently level 53 right now with all green power-prec and-or Critical Dmg gear and D-D + Shortbow glass cannon thief. As the other people said WvW at low level can be hard. A lot of people are 80 and fully geared in exotics , use top end food ect.

My best advice would be to stay with a small zerg and run supply camps , control points ect. XP is decent and you will survive much easier hiding behind the zerg. Your goal should be that of a troll and support. Stealth , get a few hits and try to get a few conditions on a guy and then GTFO. Use steal with thrill of the hunt to boost your teammates ect. Basically don’t try to kill everything that move because you’re at a disavantage being low level and under geared. Note that you can actually kill some people being low level with a Thief because you have good burst but you must be much more careful than a 80 Thief. for exemple. Personally i try to pick people who are already engaged and focused on someone else and with 50%ish health. Depends of the build and class of course. Any type of bunker is loling at my lvl 53 burst.

It can be done but don’t try to run solo at WvW at low level because you will be quickly terminated.
