Thief is my least played class and out of the classes I know the least about Thief.
So therefore I am here for some advice for PVP.

Why isnt Bandit’s defence listed among the possible choices in the metabattle D/P Daredevil build? Isnt a really low cd stunbreaker (which can knockdown the enemy if you block even) awesome for Thiefs?

When I try Thief I play alterations of S/D Daredevil (love Infiltrator’s strike) and D/P Daredevil.
I know the latter is better than the first, but I just really love Infiltrator’s strike.

Are there any other builds recommendable?
Condi Daredevil for example? How would that build look like?
Any others?

Is Shortbow the way to go in all builds?

Where will you get replacable swiftness from in the non-Dash builds now that steal requires a target?

Bandits Defense (BD) is a solid skill since it is a stun breaker and great for ranged blocking on a short cooldown. The problem is the knockdown animation can get a player killed. If you use BD and then immediately dodge before the knockdown animation, it works pretty well. I just don’t find it as good as Shadow Step, Blinding Powder or Signet of Agility at least on a Dare Devil.

S/P is under appreciated. Pistol Whip is the biggest hitter a thief has and has a built in Interrupt which works well with Impacting Disruption. S/D just got nerfed via the Steal change. D/P has always been good.

Dare Devil staff is pretty solid. There are a couple condi builds for the thief that leverage Twisted Fangs. You can find those pretty easily by searching on the forums.

Shortbow is required on 90 plus percent of thief builds since the best class feature the thief has is mobility and this weapon comprises about half or more of that mobility.

I can help you play sword/pistol in game if you want. But ya, steal change is an indirect nerf to S/D and D/P, and Staff. Its all around bad. Otherwise Straegen has your answers.

I’m on a staff daredevil kick right now. Staff Vault (#5) does massive damage. Vault does as much (I think more) damage than backstab. It works really well with Bounding dodger. Also with blinding powder and staff skill 1 you get a knock down that is really valuable when you need to throw out an interrupt. The only draw back on staff is that I dont really use #2 and #4 that often.
Vault
-5 initiative
-No stealth required
-No position requirement
-Small Aoe (not single target)
-Evade frames
-Ranged 600

Ill keep in mind to cancel the knock of Bandit’s defence.
Btw I dont have it instead of Shadowstep and Signet of Agil. I have it besides Shadowstep and Signet of Agil.

I am trying P/P daredevil for lols atm.
With traveler rune to make up somewhat for the loss of swiftness.
