This is actually ridiculous, how do you counter these things when they drop poison and bleeding, disappear, and repeat process?

Can’t wait out and watch what happens since both conditions deal 2k a tick. All I’ve been seeing in gold 1 are condition builds, I my teams is pretty average, we communicate and such, but when the enemy is heavily Condi built, it’s almost impossible. From what I know, thieves only have 2 skills that remove 3 conditions each but with long 30 seconds+ cooldowns, and one automatic one that removes one condition but that’s IF u dodge an Attack, but how can u dodge an Attack when the thief is cloaked?

I already know there will be comments like “learn 2 play” but the fact I keep seeing these thieves in the ladder one after the other is getting out of hand. I play as Sw/D thief in PvP because since my ping is a sits around d 90-110, Steal doesn’t work 8 times out of 10.

Well, first: Don’t fight them at all. Just skip, decap, +1, anything, don’t bother.
But if you really have to 1v1 them, for any reason, or its just simply necesarry to do so then you have to manage to land one burst at them and lock them between their DB/Dodge evade frames. Once you do that and they still live just jump away from them and let them spam their DB and Evade, because they most definitely will do that, stay on shortbow during that time and press from range. Then jump back with another burst. 90% of time you can not stay near them and AA them, cause they will evade everything and apply condi with it, so Burst-escape-shortbow-burst.

Been seeing a lot more of them also. Generally an easy kill though it takes too long. Try NOT to 1v1 in conquest. They have weaker chase, and you on dash d/p thief will be more mobile. Out rotate, and play to your builds strengths. When you find them in a group fight, be patient and wait for when their initiative is low and they are very vulnerable. Most thieves can tell when another thief is in trouble. Basi and burst as you would any +1.

If you absolutely have to 1v1, play patiently, they have low stealth access, so use that to your advantage. Stealth burst and disengage, restealth and repeat. When they are low, basi then steal to secure kill. It is hard to explain but you will feel the right rhythm for fighting them. Whatever you do don’t over commit and go ham, you will die that way.

If condi’s are still a problem, try EA, or Acro PR, or even trickster (withdraw, haste, RFI with shadowstep) until you get the hang of it.

That’s generally how condi thiefs burst since years ago tho. Except with the new poison on immobilise trait that kinda make sword a little more troll to fight against since they just spam dump condis unlike power build. Just bring your cleanse as a thief/Daredevil. Sigil of agility is a good especially in condi meta. Dodges removes condi trait from DD. Disengage and initiate on them before they do on you, control the fight or as mentioned above, dont fight at all. A drawn out fight against s/d condi is just.. braindead.

When properly used the thief has some of the most efficient cleanses in game. This because many of the cleanses are targetted to a specific condition rather then “clear three conditions”. This means the thief has great control over how they clean their conditions.

DA and CS do not offer any cleanses at all but the other traitlines have some very powerful cleanses.

Thief also have heals that target specific conditions. You use these in conjunction with the generic type cleanses to make the latter more efficient. As example if condition bombed use WITHDRAW and THEN use Shadowstep, not vice versa and you can clean off a whole pile of conditions.

Hey so im a gold 3 thief, ive played sw/? Since they release. Its my favorite. Recently i have switched from s/d to s/p. When you approach a condi thief always apprach with Infiltrators strike.. This will leave an escape gap, remove one of those condis. If you do this, fight him away from where your port is. For s/d you have to use your Flanking strike to dodge either his lotus evade, or his death blossom. If its a d/d he can use a total of 5-6 deathblossoms, and 4-5 evades. You as s/d have same evasiveness if you are bothusing trickery and daredevil. You can either choose to eat some of the burst and condi cleanse or you can try to match his evades. Id reccomend eating some of them, this puts you ahead with more evades and initiative. It is difficult to do because like you said the condis tick high. But thats because they are stacking two maybe three damaging condis. The main ones being bleeds and poison. If you can get ahead with evades or initative you can wait untill you see he us out of resource.
This is what i see alot, bask venom,steal→evade or death blossom x4 and some dagger autos.
If they open with bask venom, use a utility to break because a birst is coming, or take the burst and condi cleanse after your out of bask.
I use s/p and i suggest you try. The daze will ruin thier day. Id go on in super detail about fighting condi cancer but thatd be super super long gl

Its actually not that difficult if you pay 100% attention during the fight. Watch where they drop their traps for starters. Condi teefs also tend to eat init/endurance like its nothing so kite out their endurance/init skills and then go for the burst. Also they hate range (pewpew)

show what a trap do, with traits … when you play tricky then you have 4…

The problem in the matchup from a 3rd party’s perspective is simple:

The condi thief requires less skill and effort in the fight. To beat one you need to out play them w/out a mistake. This is not true for the condi thief due to them being more tanky than you.

Just remember in the fight to be aggressive and put them on the defensive. Once your condi clears are gone GTFO. This is because a simple Steal and dodge will kill you.

As non condi thief, just avoid it. You’ll always outrotate them.

You noted a crap ping, so that’s a problem. You basically need to fight them inbetween evade frames or bait them to blow their endurance and endurance refreshes then burst them. Most of the time, your time is spent better elsewhere.
