Hi guys, i wanted to ask here, what exactly a thief brings to a dungeon party?
I say quite a few “we do not want thieves” in party. So i am missing something here?
Except the SR skill is there any other strength to bring us along?

i am feeling left out into the rain sometimes, all because 14+ nerfs in a row i think…

Those people are fed up with average thief who dies from a single sneeze and needs constant rez. Or thief equipped with 3 signets. Thief is similiar to warrior, brings mostly damage but you can also spam blast finishers and bring single target/aoe weakness making mobs dealing averagely 25% less damage (similiar to protection).

If you have 15 Deadly Arts, you can permanently weaken an entire dungeon’s worth of mobs and make it a breeze. You can maintain blinds with stealth, pistol skills and utilities, remove boons with Trickery or S/D from key mobs, daze or stun key mobs with sword or Headshot, and most importantly, you’re the most powerful team medic in the game (you can’t instantly res a bunch of people but you can keep you and your teammates completely safe from aggro and damage while doing so, and you can do it consistently with low cooldowns).

as a P/P glass cannon unload focused crit machine

i use signet of malice and omnom pie + unload spam = insane constant healing.

so what do i bring, very high ranged dmg output (unload spam does do this) shadow refuge to use as an agro dump for group members like eles / necros / rangers or to use on a downd player who is being ressed = no agro for the resser.

when people say utility alot of the time they forget that high dmg output is a utility.

if every 1 is just “utility” in a group buff sense the boss would take an age to take down.

main issue is ofc bad thiefs who dont dodge and decided to go glass cannon as MELEE, you can get away with ranged class cannon as all u need to do is avoid red circles, but if u go melee u have to be able to take a hit and not die.

we can also strip boons with melee and spec for it etc and give nice group boons at the cost ofour own dmg output. besides if uw ant group boons a warrior with a few shouts and banner is perfect + a thief = great synergy. but then alot of pug warrior are 5 signet gs noobs

P/P is some of the best thief single target ranged damage, but it isn’t good damage on the whole. There’s also no need to use SoM if you’re going to be doing ranged damage anyways, you’re sacrificing damage potential for the safety of range, you might as well use HiS for more damage.

And you absolutely can go glass cannon as melee and not die.
