Hi there, what would you do after the thief class (not necessarily the same thief)
kill you in wvw again and again and again?

But seriously, I’d ask for help, be open for advice. Try to get gameplay of it, maybe make a thief myself and really try to understand what I could do differently.

Capture it (fraps, camcorder) and see where I went wrong
Ask for advice, from guild, forum and the thieves themselves.
Play one and learn it’s strengths and weaknesses.
Go to bed, get some rest and sleep to fight another day.

I don’t have thief but here’s the answers you are going to get. ALL were copied from this forum.

1) make a thief. that is, if you have a free slot available. If not, your fault.
2) learn to anticipate : always keep an eye out for vanishing people. Even if there are 10 enemies around, always assume that YOU are the target. So get that protection up! Of course with more (friendly)players or multiple thieves around all this goes down the drain but, well, tough luck. You should have ran away as soon as you saw the thief stealth.
3)Then assume the thief will be going for your back. So you either put an aoe field there or swing your weapon at empty air. This will take at least 1/2 of you foe’s hp unless you are such a baddy that you wrongly guessed where the thief was. Then again, your fault. If somehow you did not half kill him, you are specced wrong. Because thieves are the weakest class!
4) do NOT spec glass cannon. only thieves are allowed that, and when you still do it anyways, don’t come qq-ing here. It’s your own fault!

3 is wrong it should be don’t stand there in one spot like frye waiting to get attacked. Just keep going about your business. If the thief wants to try to kill you he is going to blow some sort of cooldown to burst you then put your protection up. When you see him get close cause he only has 1 heal 1 shadow refuge and 1 blinding powder. If he blows all of those to chase you down and his initiative then your good to go. Don’t do like some people and just stand around just keep going about your business pop some swiftness the thief has to use resources to catch you.

Im a ranger…Ive watched videos, played a thief, talked to other players, and have tried every combination of skills, defences, and attacks to combat a thief. I have learned this, I can kill a poorly played thief, or a well played thief who isnt all stealth and bust damage, but one that knows what he or she is doing is absolutly unstoppable for me. Im dead before I can press a button. Ive specced entirely for defence first and I literally die before I can evade, or click a button. It just is what it is. Once you know a well played thief is in an area, go someplace else.

As a thief, I find rangers that make good use of their traps a pain to fight. Maybe you give that a try.
