Thief changes INCONCEIVABLE
Isn’t teh hidden killer trait thing a bug?
As to the combo, add 1 second to your auto attack chain by like, I dunno, the start of another autoattack chain. Cancel it halfway to C&D, easy nuff. Or, you could do what I did, and go D/P.
Not that I agree with the changes, mind you, I would’ve more preferred the original SoTG changes, but raging like this is kinda immature
Well, they basically decided to blanket nerf the entire shadow arts tree / stealth solely because of noob complainers. There actually was nothing wrong with stealth or “OP” about it – culling was the issue.
What they should have done is waited and realized culling was the culprit to most people’s complaints of thieves being “perma stealthed” and aside from that it has always simply been a “learn to play issue.”
Most of the people complaining had not played thieves themselves probably or they saw those HIGHLY EDITED YOUTUBE VODS of glass cannon thieves 1 shotting upleveled wvw people.
Of course in these videos they never show the edited out parts where the thief dies over and over to people that know what they’re doing, or anyone that knows how to simply dodge their burst.
Ironically, most of the knowledgeable / best thieves play S/D as their main set without even “abusing” stealth. Although, there are a lot of good ones that play d/d glass cannon but that is actually difficult to play and sustain because you die so quickly if you mess up any initiative use or your burst.
TLDR; yes you have a legitimate right to complain about the most recent blanket nerf to the thief profession, let’s hope they don’t continue down this road.
Otherwise we will only see warrior/mesmers/guardians in PvE -_-
Catering to the minorities are destroying the game.

You used a particular word in your title.
I don’t think it means what you think it means.
It’s pretty obvious, and nobody’s impressed.
Yea nerf was to much less survivability, less dps and made the thief attack rotation feel awkward and messy. I loled at your rant Arkitech but i totally agree with you

The OP Pretty much summed up my first reaction to the patch… But I can honestly say that after wiping the tears from my eyes, and logging back onto my thief with an open mind, that I have been able to adapt to these changes, quite easily I might add.
As far as a stealth crit cooldown, that was just a hidden killer bug, that Anet has already fixed. (correct me if I’m wrong on this).
I agree that the changes were a little over the top and not the direction in which I would of liked to see Anet go, but it really isn’t that bad.
On a positive note, Anet has mentioned “increased mobility” coming to the Thief class… So something to look forward to. Eventually.
They just corrected it now.
No point in me mentioning this now since evidently Arkitech has already left the building (despite loving all the other classes so re-rolling a guard for example is out of the question, as is trying a different thief build).
Many people actually took the time to think this out critically, if anyone’s interested. To cite one off of memory:

There are a few good youtube videos also adjusting their autoattack chain to try to compensate.
It was a nerf, no doubt. It doesn’t “break” the entire class though, comeon that’s just your frustration getting the best of you
I love every other class too. What i dont understand is what makes thief so strong? Rock paper scissors, everyone is op thus no one is. everything has a legitimate counter. a good gaurd will always beat a thief for instance but i’m straying off subject.
Basically the frontload damage. Despite, GC Guardian >> GC Thief. Just try it, and you’ll see how lackluster the thief is in everything but mobility.
What’s really odd is that even the famous BS combo doesn’t seem so strong. But Anet catters for the newbies, it seems. Hell, some thieves still run D/D in hotjoin! The freaking D/D!! How does anyone still dies to it so freaking bad?
getting sick of these threads.
Can you please stop playing thief and play another class.. the less whinging thieves there are, the better it is.
Upon class changes, you simply need to learn and adapt to the changes
And nothing of value was lost.
I love all the scrubs crying about the stealth changes though. If the only way you can play thief is perma-stealth spam, you were never even decent to begin with.

The stealth nerf didn’t touch perma-stealth-spam. It is still feasible.

The rotation changes mentioned there are… debateable at best and won’t change the awkward feel of this change. /D just lost most of its fluid playstyle which is a serious bummer in PvE at least.

This nerf did nothing to permastealth spam. You can still wait for stealth to end and immediately restealth, thieves can run away just as easily. The other nerf would have solved this making revealed an absolute, but instead they slowed down the dps of playstyles that use stealth for sustainability while engaged.

I never cared for perma-stealth spam. I enjoyed a playstyle that flowed. What they did was destroy the playstyle. I have all the professions at 80 and play them all; it’s not about hanging out on the thief and ganking people. It’s about a successful class design and playstyle that’s now destroyed.
Initially, I thought swtor was the most balanced game I played. Then they reordered the trees and effectively destroyed the two class builds I enjoyed most. They weren’t OP—they were hybrid builds that afforded a fun natural-feeling playstyle. That’s what the thief had and that’s what they’ve taken away. They made an aspect of successful class design unsuccessful and all because there are noobs that can’t function against a thief. Most thiefs in WvW are walking ‘openers’ that are easy to counter. I didn’t build that way; I just enjoyed a fun playstyle that flowed. It’s rarely a good idea to work against successful class design. It’s a much better idea to work towards extending it to all classes.
The lack of “flow” is the first thing I noticed after the patch. This thread touches on the less obvious effects of the 4s reveal: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief/Feedback-from-the-Patch-Note
