Thief cheating is too common in WvW
So you come kittening about us thieves in the thief forum and you expect, what exactly?
“I’ve had invisible thieves magically catch up to me while I have a huge lead and a speed buff. When they get to me, they still have plenty of initiative to quickly stun and finish me off.”
—-Thieves can be the most mobile class in the game. You don’t need initiative to stop someone (ex: Devourer Venom).
“I’ve had thieves take me down to 0 health nearly instantly.”
—-Glass cannon with backstab build & might stacking can essentially 1 shot most undergeared/semi geared people.
“I’ve had thieves take me down to 0 health nearly instantly, while invisible.”
—-Everyone already knows about the culling issues by now. Push tab and continue to attack them, it isn’t that much harder to do. I’ve beaten other thieves 2v1 with their model only rendering for short amounts of time, you just need to work around it.
“I’ve had thieves perma-stealth only to taunt me and others nearby with emotes — sometimes for several minutes.”
—-You cannot perma stealth. Chances are, you didn’t catch them while they had the debuff up.
“I’ve seen thieves kill player after player, only to escape when enough players try to intervene. This is not some one hit wonder 3 minute build. It’s the de-facto thief spec.”
—-It is called an immobilize. Use it.. Thieves who run from me rarely get away any more.
“Enough is enough. I can’t tell who’s running 3rd party programs or who is simply exploiting a broken class mechanic, but this needs to stop.”
—-If there is an exploit (doubt it), I am sure it will be addressed. Other than that, you just need to improve your own playstyle. Don’t roll w/ glass cannon gear/spec if you keep getting kittened. If you have problems keeping up with thieves, get yourself some immobilizes. If you still cannot beat thieves 1v1, then queue up for some spvp matches and find yourself some thieves to duel and learn from. Make a thief and learn the skills/mechanics. I had some issues myself at first, but it doesn’t even faze me any more.
Invisible is partially due to a server bug which doesnt render all characters near you, also when you stealth as a thief although it only lasts about 3 seconds on the player screen, it in fact lasts about 4 seconds to everyone else due to the servers and/or coding not being up to scratch.
hence you almost always get a free full second of being on someone before you appear to them. which means its only about 2 seconds before you vanish again.
there are so many posts here about how you may have been bursted down quickly by a thief that I really cant be bothered to explain how it happened if you cant be bothered to take the time to read it.
Also this game is not balanced for WvW so its best not to complain about it, the thief wasn’t the one that took you down in under 5 seconds from the wall, because they only have 900 range on all abilities bar 1 which does awful sustained dps at long range.
I dont know if this kind of post are for real, or they are just trying to make Anet nerf the thief class. Its tue the thiefs do a lot of dmg, but only when using a glass cannon build. Apart from that, the thiefs are just as any other class, learn how to deal with those using backstab build or just avoid fighting thiefs.
Maybe he meet a speedhacking thief. Just a wonder how he could avoid the speedhackers of every other class tho.
Also my bet is the OP is a Mesmer that didnt win like he is used to.

As a thief main, I do fully understand where he’s coming from. I’ve seen countless times where an invisible thief will eliminate players from a big group, finish them off, move on to the next, wash, rinse, repeat, all without ever once coming out of stealth. It happens, and that is a real thing to complain about. The near instant death though, is due to extreme glass cannoning, and not something to complain about though.
I wish thief was essentially a duplicate of assassins from gw1…this way all these baddies would qq harder about burst and being stun/knocklocked instead of a 3 second stealth, which is apparently perma.

Enemy running away? Is he an annoying kitten elementalist who just got half way across the map? No problem. Infiltrators Signet → Steal → Cloak & Dagger and Backstab. 1800 range covered and noob pwned.
Infiltrator’s Signet needs a target. You can’t use it on a target unless you’re in range, just like Steal.
“Halfway across the map” is far from 1800 distance, by the way. Other classes have 1200 distance teleports on their own.
This thread summed up: “my glass cannon build is countered by the assassin class and i can’t always run away whenever i’m going to lose, please nerf thief so that i can play how i want without having to adapt”
