Thief in 1v1s
You will hardly beat any of those class above (except thief vs thief) if they know what they are doing.
Unless you are really skilled thief, Its really hard match up for a thief to vs them.
reason for that is because after HoT release all the profession elite spec hits hard and tanks hard except us thieves sustain got nerfed to the ground.
I tend to find other thieves annoying because many of them will run away if they can’t one shot you. My build is designed around positioning (keep them in one spot and stay out of their “ideal” spot) so other thieves that use daredevil unhindered will generally pose the most issues. (I play condi so I tend to have more sustain than a glass canon build).
I need to play around on my staff/sword/DD/DP build more in the post-HoT game. I’ve had some luck with tank/evade builds with signet of malice. (Took out a ranger while solo capping a WvW keep). Generally the flexibility of thief is that sustain can come from evade and heal, stealth and heal, or life steal/heal on hit/crit.
Trying to do “too much” and not taking advantage of synergy traits (reduced recharge on skills) is what I try to avoid when designing builds that can win. My advice on mesmer is to stay extremely mobile and stealth a lot. I think using either sword or d/p (for direct damage builds) and a lot of teleports would be helpful (maybe with a swap to sb with energy sigils to help maintain evades while waiting for their stealth to go down).
Thief in 1 v 1? You don’t really want to 1 v 1 in PvP. Thieves excel at making fights unfair. Even if the next patch buffs the class so that it can win most 1 v 1, you’re still often better off swooping in to +1 fights and decap points.
I’m sorry, I don’t want to sound harsh, but you must have met very bad DHs, Scrappers and Eles.
When I’m playing especially on scrapper, I just melt down ANY thief, the class can’t really face it.

Nah, they were actually really good, my guess is they didn’t expect someone who actaually knows how to play the class.

We got legendary tier thief here
Necros and revs are the most manageable. Tepmpest and mesmers are a waste of time, you’ll never kill them. Tempest can kill you without even targeting you overtime.
Flee from DHs, druids and scrapper like the plague.
Nooctae ( Thief ) / Encelya ( Engineer ) / Jane Crimson ( Elementalist ) / Kowywr ( Revenant )
Europe, Vizunah.
Is that everyone’s excuse, if the thief beats class x then they must of been bad? Or may be the thief was just better and not rushing in. In pvp 9/10 fights I fail (not get killed) but because I couldn’t down them fast enough before my or their ally shows up.
On topic. Tempests can be killed
Scrappers I tend to ignore, same with DH
Necros are pretty simple as a staff theif
gw1 – healing signet/frenzy/charge

And then there were flying pigs, too…
So much ego in this thread…
Funny since it’s rarely ever worthwhile to engage in a 1 v 1 in high level PvP as a thief anyways. There’s almost always something you’re better off doing instead, such as bursting and finishing off an even fight somewhere else so that you can win a contested point or decapping an open point. Fair fights are for schmucks. The best part of playing a thief is not having to play fair.
For me, I never had a problem beating other Thieves, Warriors, Necros and Revs. The classes that gave me trouble but were manageable were DH, Eles and Scrapper. Classes I could only beat if I was on my A game were Druids and Mesmers.
Any non-elite is beatable generally speaking and none rank higher than moderate given above average skill or less.
Dare Devils, Reapers and Zerkers are generally easy targets. Druid, Herald and Revenants are beatable but dangerous/annoying. Scrappers, Tempests, Chronomancers and Dragon Hunters bring a tank and/or a bazooka to a knife fight.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
AS thief 1v1 you dont fight only if it is a fellow thief or some wierd squishy guy.
and mesmers are the most easiest class to fight.
I find all condies spammers such as condi mesmers and Necros are the most annoying and void in all cost.
As a thief I would avoid good scrappers, good druids and most DHs. The rest are doable.
