Thief in T4 fracs
You have to learn to time your evades, thief has enough Condi clears for Pve content especially if you run EA, learn to time the large tells for the boss fights
PW with escapist for condis and trash mobs
get defensive pots with mastery
melee is around 450ish (depeneding on weapon), try to stand on very edge of melee to mobs
thief is probably easiest class to run fractals on if you know what you are doing
Easy to say “dodge” but when there are 5-10 thrash mobs with attack animations which are all almost invisible and you get 1hit by all of them…. and then there is the toxic trail too… i get conditions applied to me like hell even when i perma dodge i die… once my dodges run out after vigor heal and signet im dead….

That is why you use s/p for trash mobs…. and malice.

Seeing how almost no Trash mobs have any one shot mechanics, yes dodging and using Aoe evade from Vault or using Aoe range with SB 2 and 4 it is as simple as dodging. Also you can run CS and trait Invigorating Precision which greatly increases your sustain if feel like facetanking mobs.
I may be too new to understand how this works, but I don’t see how “just dodge everything” is a viable strategy in group content. You can’t dodge everything, so unless you have someone else helping you clear your condi and burst heal when you can’t, you’re going to get downed a lot.
I don’t know if this is acceptable in high end fractals as I’ve only done up to mid-level so far, but I don’t think thief is in a bad spot as far as DPS in small groups goes. Why not just slap on some marauder pieces, take invigorating precision in the CS line and pair it up with the defensive offerings in the acrobatics line. This should greatly increase your survivability, at some cost to your damage output, of course.
No need for any of that, i run full zerk in fractals. S/P for trash with condi clears on evade and malice, staff/sp/pp for bosses (depending which boss). Honestly, i am usually only person alive when my groups wipe and have to finish the encounters myself. The problem, as far as fractals goes, is between monitor and chair.
I agree with d/p, I like it better than d/d personaly. with cliffside, try taking smokescreen instead of fist flurry so you can blind them and make them miss their heart seeker attack. Positioning like others have said is VERY key (for all classes). I like to use the Gsword as an example: this is a fantasy game, if you stick your Gsword right into your enemies or if you just tip them with the weapon, you’ll do the same damage. Same is true with all weapons in this game

Maybe evade is a better word than dodge. I don’t know how fractals work but even without Acro and Upper Hand with Staff and Channeled Vigor you should be able to stagger your evade frames out and you can burst evade with Staff into a cold spot to reset endurance quicker with CV if you have to. Even Staff skills alone synergize well being a positioning weapon as almost everything you do sets up another thing.
