Thief is boring.
Yeah, forgot to mention. Don’t play much PvP.
Sword is a lot of fun to play now, might be worth a look. It’s not meta, but frankly the meta in general is pretty boring right now imo.
Don’t follow me, unless you enjoy being chased by angry men with sticks.
Power Build Condi Build
PvE has mostly been boring, no matter what you did.
Dungeon: D/D CnD, backstab, 1111…
Fractal: S/P (no poison allowed): 3333 *rant from party because the interrupt destroyed the “defiance bar” 3333
World Boss: P/P 3333
Thief might actually the most boring class in PvE because of the initative system and because you can spam the best skills.
It is a different scenario in pvp/wvw though – the AA didn’t change much – because you can’t stand still and autoattack stuff.
Or what did change for you that you now think thief is boring in PvE? Or was it just that you expected different buff that gave you more survivability or group utility?
They had to buff thief AA for PvE and they did explain it with “thief needing initative for defensive purposes as well”. And well, every other class did more damage.
I think that’s a pretty gross oversimplification, since the idea that, at least, in HoT, you can just stand still for more than 1 second and AA without getting one-shotted is pretty far-fetched.
I think daredevil is the most entertaining class I have played in PvE, because of the Dark Souls like combat mechanic where you have two slowly regenerating resource bars, initiative and endurance, that you use for both offense and defense abilities. Thus, as a result, daredevils have a lot of potential to be able to solo and complete challenging combat other classes can not if they are skilled enough at understanding the fights mechanics and spending their resources at the right times. It’s also similar to Dark Souls in that, if you kitten up, you get punished really hard.
To me, the AA buff just meant I can afford to spend more initiative and endurance on defensive dodges or vaults and can thus, try and take on more challenging encounters.
tbh, warrior is the most boring pve class

I think revenant is a million times more exciting in PvE. I also have 2 bars and cooldowns – 3 limitating factors that stress my durability as a super pixel being and my ability to both attack and defend. Cause I’m the defender of my allies around me and have to diminish the evil rotten kitten of HoT.

They can – they have got invulnerabilities instead of stealth – or they have also stealth and invulnerabilities.
There have been videos of most if not all classes soloing dungeons in the past and the same is still true. So I guess your perception is wrong: Thief still is one of the weaker classes out there. If in a great team though they can now at least damage wise be on par with other classes.

Meh, guard thief and revenant are even more boring than war in pve
PVE tends to be like that no matter the profession you play. I still do it time to time and will do the HOT metas if the pop up with a populated map while I am there but gievn the nature of AI they tend to be pretty repetitive.
It would be nice one day were there ever an AI developed in critters that are reactive and adaptive wherein based on given conditions they use different and varied tactics but until than whether you do the TD meta, the Auric basin meta or whatever , you do it enough times and it the same old.

nah thief is most boring
as war you actually have to rotate your spells a bit, as thief you just spam 3, 111111 until you got ini, then spam 3 again… evades guarantee that you won’t even need dodge
i am played both classes in pve, so this is comming from personal experience
i would add rev to the list since entire dps rotation involved AA but they changed it a bit

axe/axe is hella fun, get away from GS snooze fest and enjoy some good ol’ madness.
I’d say anything meta is boring. Why do people like being like everyone else? Because its easy? Pshh
break. I feel like they should be back by now..”
Edited: Ahh kitten it, I will actually give a legitimate response to this.

Well, that’s your opinion. You are entitled to it. I welcome it. I am also happy you have achieved some feel of importance as this alleged super pixel being that you clearly seem to lack in your life.
However, your enjoyment of the revenant class and the similarities you can draw between it’s mechanics and the thiefs does nothing to prove that such mechanical similarities exist between the thief and, you know, the other classes. Nor does your enjoyment of the revenant class or the similarities you have drawn between the two diminish my own personal enjoyment of the thief mechanics.

Well, once again, you are drawing similarities between revenant and thief, which still leaves other classes out there.
And no, my perspective doesn’t appear to be wrong, as for one, the weakness of thiefs in team play wasn’t a topic I was even addressing and the existence of such weakness doesn’t diminish my enjoyment of the thief.
Nor does the existence of videos of people soloing content as other classes disprove the point I was trying to make as that point was not that other classes can’t solo content. Rather, that the thief combat mechanics give a degree of flexibility that isn’t there with a class like elementalist that is restricted by very specific and set cooldowns on it’s individual abilities.
I can provide examples from my own experiences at approaching content with both classes, but I am not going to do that, because you really aren’t interested in having an actual discussion on this subject, in my oh so humble opinion.

imo pve is boring in general. I only play pvp in this game lol pve is not challenging at all

You didn’t need to answer on this, I was making fun of your heroic description of a thief in PvE – but truth being told; I felt really useful as a revenant on the HoT maps. My use as a thief is mostly to kill fast (well was once upon a time) and to stealth (once upon a time that was kind of my “job”) downed players. Same is true in wvw.
So, you might feel as if a PvE thief still is a hero but your arguments as to why match revenant even better.
The same holds true in WvW IMO. The AA DPS increase has basically led to an entire group of players moving away from positional play into head hunting with AA. The D/P weapon set pretty much looks like this:
Steal -> Mug -> AA/Shadow Shot till dead. Any trouble Shadow Step away.
If a Backstab happens in there somewhere, small bonus.

no, because as thief, i can stealth teamates or put aoe projectil block and like using dagger storm in lava shaman is fun too or even rip protection..
war just mindlessly spam all DPS skill that’s off CD and that’s it…nothing else happening..
