Thief needs more health

Mesmer is a unique thing i like it but it can take on more than what a thief can and wreck thief too
They can easily have 5-7k more hp than a thief and are a light class with the same defence
Stealth can be like perma its just total kitten until specialisations lol

Back to warrior being my only melee
Build vitality if you want health. thief is a stealthy medium armour class. not a warrior

Losing the ability to get some Vitality from Precision really hurt. The extra Ferocity is nice, but really does make thief even more glass cannon than before. Invigorating Precision might have been a good way of making thief less squishy, but it’s the big hits that are going to hurt more than the little ones. Plus, giving up a lot of damage not having No Quarter or Hidden Killer..
Use the new Marauder amulet and get rid of that Berserker amulet. The new zerker amulet has no VIT so we have to run with Marauder to get the VIT.

not sure how you got to that number when full zerk with the exception of 2 valk accessories take me to 14k in wvw – 17k after fort stacks. In spvp zerk amulet puts you at 11k and valk boosts you to about 20k. So…

Was roaming with mesmer guildie yesterday, he was able to put 15-20 stacks of might on me, which is sweet. On other hand, didn’t enjoy most of the fights with mesmers cos they adopted common thief fight style very well and even improved it. It gets boring after a while when the other person is stealthed for foreverrrr, with thief you at least have some visual clues as to where they are stealthing up.

With ascended zerk/valk rings and rings only. Combined with otherwise full exotic zerk with speed runes, I have 14k hp, 2k armor, 47% crit chance, and 210% ferocity.
However a hp buff would always help, I’m just saying that it ain’t as dismal as you make is sound.
I never understood the HP differences in this game, the differences on Health tiers are waaaaaaaay higher than armor tiers.
Armors have a physical reason to provide better defense, but you can have 2 humans with the same physique and different base HP.
I really really really liked how in Guild Wars 1 every naked character would have the exact same stats and only their profession armor would provide them their bonuses (and each profession had specific insignias to pick to make each one stand). And back then Warriors were always big and necros were always slim but as humans they shared the same Health and Energy pools until you equiped an armor.
Probably the devs were playing a lot of Team Fortress 2 as many of them are known fans (I’m a fan too, probably the best balanced shooter ever and really fun) and thought “hey, if this is so well balanced and there are high HP differences between their classes, let’s do the same! brilliant!”, problem is that GW2 is designed in a way that anyone is supposed to play any role (I love playing support Thief for example) while in TF2 each class has its specific pros and cons and when you equip different stuff to change it, most times your health pool changes (all their items have pros and cons instead of each one being better than the previous one, which is great). So GW2 shouldn’t have followed TF2 model for class balance as it’s a completly different game.

I figured out a way to maintain health with just a lil over 40% crit chance wvw
In pvp i would use marauders yeah
Still a lot more damage is dealt by every class and not enough being sucked in we all take it and thief takes the most since it has the least hp

I have ascended zerk with scholar so ive maxed my stats, i was just comparing the full exotic valk and it didnt feel like much of a change its like a lost all the precision for nothing
Everyone’s burst damage is just higher atm. It’s not a health issue.

Remember, everyone got 150 bonus baseline toughness and vitality, to make up for the loss from trait lines. Unfortunately we also all got bonus power and precision, and they upped damage all round, so overall everyone’s squishier, no matter what profession they are :p

Yeah except issue with that is, if engi gets hit by 13k shatter, he will still have time to heal up.
If ele or thief gets hit for 13k shatter, they go down. There is no chance to heal up.
HP does matter when single strikes (or dmg that can land within 1 milisecond) is higher than HP pool.
