Thief or ele for pve as of patch
If you want a more tanky/DPS class then go ele.
As of patch in pve which class is doing better? Im interested in d/d ele as well as d/d thief. Id like to make my char more tanky/dps. I went glass cannon on my mesmer and hate it. Im also interested in wvw
