As a player who mains thief, I want my third looking the best it possibly can. I don’t want to have to look at an ugly toon when playing. So, I am considering switching to a human thief from an asuran thief. I would move all my armour and stuff over to the human, but I’d loose my bag upgrades. I don’t know if it’s worth it. I dislike my asuran due to his size. I can’t see the animations very well and feel unnoticed by other players. A human, however, is larger so aligning backstabs is a lot easier. Please tell me if you have done/considered doing this and would appreciate your feedback.

I main an asuran thief near minimum height and build. Asura animations are frequently more pronounced than other races so that shouldn’t be an issue (pistol whip for example). Have you switched the camera to center on character height? The only thing I don’t love is how tiny certain daggers are, but there are plenty that look great. I’ve also had multiple compliments on my look in several different armor sets. People notice if you look awesome even when you’re small.

Smallest height? Isn’t that like the size of a cat? Ill try the camera thing. I just hate having a high zoom cuz then I have no spacial awareness… I agree with you on the dagger thing. The only dagger that is long enough IMO is incinerator…

2 male human thieves who are as tall as they can be, a medium sized female sylvari, a tiny female asura.
I still like my main (one of the tall humans) best but the animations are clear with my sylvari as well. I don’t think I want to do competitive play with my asura, but hey she stomped someone in wvw when she was level 2, so everything goes.
But in the end you can always create and delete. If you need to see the animations from dual wielded weapons go to pvp and test it.
A friend of mine swears that tiny male humans are the best (he just moans that he’s so small when standing next to my main)

Human is a little bland, but not bad.

I still dislike my sylvari thief (compared to my others) but they can look pretty cool with the color options for skin/glow; I dislike the dialogue and animations.

Charr are a lot of fun. The armor is hard to make look decent cause trenchcoats/tails/clipping (but doable). Dialogue and animations are great.

Female norn can look pretty awesome with the tattoos if you can find an armor to show them off. Dialogue and animations are good.

Are the sylvari and human animations the same? Sylvari thieves can look pretty kitten with their nightmare court stuff.

Just buy a Make over kit and make your Asura max height. I did this for my Asuran Guardian (who have awesome animations ) You cannot re-roll away from the master race.

Well, the males have really stiff movement in both their attacks and running. The females are a little more fluid. If the accent doesn’t bother you, that might be the way to go. The color combos you can get with them are pretty cool, especially if you have some of the high contrast dyes to go along with them. Mine has destroyer weapons on it with black/grey skin, orange hair, yellow glow so it all goes together pretty well, especially if you add cultural armor to it.

I don’t mean reduce field of view, there’s an option that lowers the camera height if you’re short so you can see yourself better, otherwise it’s more centered on my head as an Asura. I still have a wide FOV.

As for daggers, corrupted are great, incinerator obviously, ascended aren’t bad, sovereign, mordrem, dragon’s deep, chaos, kodan, mistforged hero, peacemaker are all worth a look. There are a couple of “plain” skins that are fairly large as well. Hopefully that helps. No judgement if you decide to switch, although I’ll be forced to refer to you as a bookah.
