Thief solo roaming/dying discussion.[Teef]
I am sorry man but you just killed me with some descriptions. Thank you for good laugh xD
Looks quite accurate to me. Add some burn guards in the list. Oh and other thieves ofc.
Please make such list for pvp…

Your list, is simply put, the greatest. But how to beat each? Play condition thief. For whatever reason, no one runs condi clear. Most run damage mitigation, yes, but condi clear itself? Not really.
You forgot Burn Guardian!
Blocks for days and if you can’t clear the instant 8stacks of burn you instantly die!
Shame it takes about 2s to stealth with Heartseeker/Blackpowder.

My Daredevil Build: The Defender!

This is purfect! Descriptions on point. I do think that as a thief now its pretty difficult. With daredevil though at least we get that extra 1 second of survivability with the 3rd dodge but i don’t think much will change.

I play pretty much exclusively power thief roaming in wvw. I find that I can beat the majority of builds if I play well.
Builds to just run from:
-PU conditions mesmer
-P/D conditions thief
-terrormancer
-condi warrior
I find pretty much everything else to be a skill matchup. I start every fight with warriors and guardians with Shortbow to see what they are using and get some damage on them before I got to burst. Rangers die easily if you wait for rapid Fire and then use dagger storm. For Shatter mesmers, I just dodge or tp away when I see the clones running at me. For DD ele, engis and necros, it’s just a matter of avoiding the damage and widdling them down.
BTW all that stuff is made 1000x easier if you play daredevil.
I’ll have you know that one time I 1v3’d a PU condi Mesmer, DD Cele Ele, AND condi nade engi and won…..then I woke up

Updated. Two things for hotm, shortbow 5 and two thieves in a losing team(Ranked). Somehow I think the thief’s elite is called the Daredevil is because it’s a Dare when you duel any competent player using a good build/class. sobs marketing and the things Ive spent on Thief.

Actually, if I play S/D, I do take the kitten out of Burn Guards…
That’s about it though
Remember you’re a +1 class. If there’s a 0 to +1 off of you gotta improvise by playing like a complete d*** and use hit, cry, run and hit again tactics. I don’t really see much changing with DD other then having a way to remove immobilize that so greatly hinders us now and being slightly more d***ish. Still will be the same old tactics and squish when caught once.
Let me see, we’re trying to build up our borderland right now – with two people, the other is afk, I think.
What I’ve killed the past half an hour:
Guard twice, once afk the other time capping a camp, some bronze rank with a Sunrise (important to some people "Oooh legendary, best player ever!!)
2 Necros both bronze ranks, one afk the other capped a camp – that was a good fight actually because I trolled him and he wasn’t too bad, just underestimated me.
Warrior squire (PvE daylie tourist).
A ranger killed me though sadface.
And it’s actually funny to kill afk players, especially with shortbow as you see all the passive kitten popping up.
Now also a condi thief (bronze or silver) and a diamond recruit pew pew ranger – he might want to think about his build. Both weren’t afk but brain afk.

If you valued mechanical skill at all you would never lower yourself to play condition thief as it’s one of the easiest if not the easiest build in the game.

I personally prefer d/d thief, and I have to admit, had some startling success recently as it appears people forgot how it plays!
But it’s short lived…
If you’re REALLY down about WvW there is one, dirty, option. With it you can roam free, safe in the knowledge that you’ll, if not win every encounter, survive every encounter.
Trapper condi thief with dire and condi foods, condition stacks. D/D ele’s usually run or you run… and anything with insane cleanses can probably escape too.
But other than that, it’s a very powerful, very evil, little build. It also doesn’t require perm stealth, certainly not in a 1v1 situation anyway. I spend nearly the entire duration of fights in 1 or 2 vs 1 on Short Bow.
The fact that you can pre-lay your traps in anticipation of a fight (you see them approach after all) means you can be a bit like a spider with a web; I’ve even had players dying from just walking into the traps and not condi cleansing (probably not realising what’s going on as i stay a distance away).
I call it a bit of a troll build… but it doesn’t rely upon pre-trapping. I’ve been jumped by invididuals, groups and more without warning (including two thieves bursting) – only to evade, and turn the tables onto them before winning comprehensively. So it is strong. But it can be slow against multiples as you basically whittle via traps and sb2 and may not have your traps back when they’re busy res’ing their buddy. Then again, that’s what the d/p 4 is for
Is it fun to play? Not really… and you WILL get a shed load of private messages of abuse. Well, either abuse or people asking what the build is and suggestions on how to counter – which i’m only to happy to provide. Since it relies on traps and traps can be evaded it is indeed counterable. Just so far no-one realises it.
The biggest surprise is how long some players are letting those conditions tick for – almost seeing if they can wait it out. Such a horrific decision as they end up cleansing as they’re nearly dead. That means an inevitable easy kill. Check durations/stacks and cleanse asap.
