I been asked a lot what it all looks like so here is a small compilation.

And Yes I am that loser who spends way to much real life money on in game gems while their are starving kids in the world. Beat you to it.

But for the most part I got great deals on making offers. Just had to wait it out.

Oh absolutely! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve thought: I wish I could afford to spend $3000 on practically nothing! I’m sorry but the frugal side of me is just cringing.

Its simply a worth of time. I am fortunate enough that my time is much more valuable then grinding to get legandaries.

Its a lot cheaper then bottle service at a nice club for 10 people and I get to keep something.

Not everyone here is 16 without a job.

ya but if anet has done anything right it is the cash shop, Imagine any other f2p game and the advantage he would of had spending that 3 grand there. Here he only 4 weapons with the same stats of exiotic weapons one can get in about a week of casual play (all 4).

For good reason. The devs did a horrible job at making guys look good. I still struggle to this day to make a human necromancer look good without looking like he came out of orr.

Golf clubs can last you 5-10 years, are made out of high quality steel / alloy / carbon fiber / graphite. The ones that cost that much are usually custom fitted / weighted / and even lofted according to your swing.

Those skins will last him a couple months until he gets bored, and are made out of pixels, 1 size fits all. But what do I know I’m just proletariat scum who wouldn’t dream of spending 3 grand on a video game

You know what, your goal of spending 3k on golf clubs and his goal of spending 3k on pixel items might not be far too different from each other. You wasted your money to buy what you want and so he wasted his money to buy what he wants. See, you both doing the same thing.

There is no way Anet could charge you for subscription fee if GW2 ever failed because the only option left for them are becoming F2P or just shut down.

This is a very important thing for people to keep in mind. Getting a legendary ingame costs hundreds of hours. People with adequately paying jobs will get more value out of their time by paying for one with money than by spending the same time ingame.

Still waiting for my thief to be able to offhand sword. Until then, my new mesmer with dual Bolt looks kittening awesome!

The guy who posted that video has a 7+ figure income. It is not worth his time to spend 300+ hours working on a legendary.

Exactly this. If you want something and decide to work for it, you are going to be trading your time for it. If your time is worth more to you than the cash price of buying the end product outright, why not do it?

I’m jealous, Shoe. I’m a biology phd student so my time and money are sadly restricted, and it will probably be a couple of years before I rack up enough gold to get my first legendary. If I could spare the cash, I’d probably do what you’ve done.

I’m not fortunate enough to have that kind of spare cash but if I did, I’d spend it how ever I like because it’s my money.

I will admit, I wish I could afford to do the same (no matter how sad you think that makes me), my choice of hobby is just that, my choice.

I’ve been squirreling away gold since day 1 and I’m still no closer (time restraints).

You’re all missing a very basic point which the OP himself made; he makes a lot of money, and therefore buying the legendaries with real money, however expensive, was actually MORE practical. He could have spent months grinding it out in game, or he could spend hours earning the cash to buy them.
If he had instead spent that time in game when he could have been working, the amount of money he would have lost would melt your brain.

The only question then is if the legendaries are actually worth it for ANYONE, with a market value of ~$3000

I cant wait till I can finally afford my bolt… Been working on it since like day one.
