Why do i think thiefs should have off-hand swords?
1st of all thiefs are the assassins of gw1 and assassins could use a off-hand sword,
if thiefs are not assassins they might be ninja’s which where off-hand sword fits even more, i can use a sword in main hand, then why not offhand,
and also alot of thiefs want it and would like it as there are alot of suggestions for it,

My Skills to Off-Hand Swords

X/Sword #5 Skill
(while channeling)
Evade the next attack. Cripple your foe if you evade a melee attack and gain stealth and regeneration for 3 sec (deal small amount of dmg)

X/Sword #4 Skill
Spin around and attack all nearby foes and cousing 2 stacks of bleed of 6 sec
(deal medium dmg)

Sword/Sword #3 Skill
Repeatedly strike foe 5 times and each hit adds 1 stack of Vulnerability
(deal medium-high dmg, stronger then the #1 Skill chain)

Dagger/Sword #3 Skill
Charge and strike your foe with both weapons and upon hit couse a poison pool for 5 sec
(deal medium dmg)

Pistol/Sword #3 Skill
Throw your sword at your foe and couse immobilize for 2.5 sec, Upon removal or end of duration Caltrops scatter around the foe
(deal medium dmg)

I like it so far. I feel in my opinion Sword/Sword should overall be a stealth-less weapon like P/P and also be pure evade. You could make the #5 skill be like apply crippling to enemies around you for 4secs and Evade (while channeling, It would almost look like the warriors axe whirl but in a more dark way) if you are hit regen for the amount of hits received for 2secs. cast time 3/4s a second Initiative cost would be 5. This skill will be able to reflect during that time as well.

the idea behind the #5 is escape from combat, some 1 hits u and u stealth and get regain and they are cripled, even if they know where u are u will be able to run away, the stealth is only 3 sec like all thief stealths and their criple will be for 2-3 sec which is ressonable

Hmmm I see I like it and its counter able from the start. Good Ideas … but sadly we probably wont even see a mention of new weapons for classes for long long long time. Its ok tho while we are at it we can brain storm stuff and i can get my 2nd bolt and put away my Incinerator when I hear the news of it coming out.

there are alot of suggestion for skills for off-hand sword in forum maybe Anet will pick 1 of them, i dont care what skils we will have, as long as we will have off-hand sword

2.5 seconds immob is a bit.. OP.. And if you trait up for ricochet.. That’s like perma immob venom but without having to use it on utility. And it’ll put pistol #2 to shame.

I would love offhand sword, but your skills are far from desirable, most of thema re poor designed and condition based which imo OH sword shouldn’t be based off.

IMO OH sword should be based arround blocks (as some of the Gw1 assasins build were based off)

I’d love the sword sword combo to have a #3 skill similar to our Spear underwater, Block next attack, upon succsefull parry you rampage at your target.

I cba to put some more thoughts on other skills, i just hope Anet does a good job.

I personally don’t like the concept of an off hand sword. It doesn’t suit the body mechanics and balance needed for an agile fighter. A lot of what is wanted from an off hand weapon can come from a very short sword, i.e. a long dagger. The ranger having a muscled pull skill on an offhand axe is bad enough already. I find the thought of a dagger/sword thief or pistol/sword thief to be quite horrible.

Now There are a lot of problems with this statement. First of all, it is a run on sentence. You have two many ideas in it, and it has no structure. Secondly, My gw1 Assassin could not offhand a sword. He could wield daggers that were sword length, but no offhand sword sadly. Then you said if “thieves aren’t assassins they are ninjas”… Well no, a thief is a thief… not an assassin or a ninja, but in fact a thief. Finally you say offhand sword fits more on ninja, which again is sort of just made up. Seeing as how ninja would most commonly use a katana, which is wielded with both hands, or a pair of kusarigama.

I award you no points. I would have given you some points if you simply said, " Offhand sword looks pretty cool. We should try that"

I made suggestions for this a while back.

4) – Riposte (4 initiative)
Block the next attack and retaliate with a weighty slash, weakening foes in front of you. Regain initiative if not attacked.
Damage: ~600
Weakness: 6s

5) – Javelin (3 initiative)
Hurl your sword to the target location with increasing velocity, crippling foes it passes through before it hits the destination. Deals more damage to targets further along the trajectory. Cripples for longer further along the trajectory.

Offhand sword is not about immersion or how realistic it is its about the feel and need of an offhand sword. You can RP or some kitten like that in your little rathole but let us P-L-A-Y-E-R-S Wield what we want. 1+ OP
