In order to thieves to have a more diverse weapon combo in PvE, I think they need something other than Shortbow, Dual daggers, Sword/Pistol to deal AoE damage. Giving them a Piercing bullets trait would definitely help with that. This would at least add Dual Pistol to their AoE damage capabilities.

Piercing would be a lot better than an RNG effect, even if you have to work harder on positioning.
Bazooka- place both pistols together and shoot your target instantly killing it and blowing it to smithereens.

No. It works well as it is. Pistols damage through rapid fire not large, single hits. Ricochet also bounces to invisible targets making it better than intended.
How about this maybe
X- Ricochet renamed to Lethal Projectiles- All skills that bounce, bounce one more additional time. All pistol skills bounce once by default except unload. Unload now pierces targets and explodes for 4-40 (based on level) damage per shot and can critically hit. Also effects scorpion wire.
I actually think Ricochet is perfect as it is right now and prefer having it over Piercing. It doesn’t need to be 100% because that would make it OP relative to Piercing due to the relative frequency of shots and the latter having much stricter positioning requirements.
However, I think both piercing and richochet are too ‘mandatory’ to have for Warrior rifle and thief pistol respectively, and feel like they should be given a baseline percentage of 25/50% that the traits improve to 50/100%

I forgot about Ricochet but now that I’ve tested it, I have a problem with it. My problem with Ricochet is, if 1 shot successfully starts bouncing, it doesn’t continue bouncing. Each bouncing shot has another 50% chance to bounce to another target and I think that’s just like folding a card at all the wrong edges.
If a shot starts bouncing, let it keep bouncing. Let it fulfill the 3 bounces limit. If it doesn’t bounce, it doesn’t bounce.
Ricochet is awesome. i have had 1 shot bounce 5 times before. Also, any pistol shot bounces. So immobilize, shadow shot from D/P, headshot, every pistol shot. I have bounced between 4-5 people blinding them and hitting them with shadow shot for the lawls a few times. Ricochet is a wonderfully fun trait, and 50% is HUGE. You know it used to be 15%? That was trash.

I can’t help but feel like it was always supposed to be 50% but that someone typo’d and then everyone assumed 5% was the intention. Because, seriously, who could be that dumb to think that a 5% bounce chance was worth a trait?

Have you seen what ArenaNet is capable of with the nerfs and changes and traits (even those that remain untouched) that we have available to use?
Remember when we all thought that Shadow’s Embrace was going to be nerfed down to 1 condition cleared every 10 seconds?
This tells you someone at ArenaNet was thinking that removing 1 condition every 3 seconds (in Stealth, mind you), was overpowered. I guarantee that was only “reverted” or not implemented because of the change to Infusion of Shadow.
