What is everyone’s thoughts on the new Legend in comparison to thief. Already there is a lot of flack between Mezmers/stealth/higher vitality, now there will be a class that literally has an “Assassin” spec/duel wields swords/shadow steps/higher vit/live steals on hit and wears heavy armor.

With the recent thief nerfs and no sign of make or break elite spec, how do people feel this will play out.

my plan was all along to play all professions for some time to get to know their counter and which skills are important for them… only revenant is left atm

if revenant gets some changes it definitely needs and shiro feels like a S/D thief without the stealth it seems like that could be a class i would wanna play mostly apart from thief and ele (as kind of an alternative to the old S/D…)
i like power based, maybe also evade focused builds with decent or good mobility

Unless Shiro’s traitline has a lot of damage modifiers and the Sword skills have very high co-efficients, Revenant is still going to hit like a wet noodle. I hope it does live up to its role as a DPS setup, at least.

Revenant also has TERRIBLE out-of-combat mobility. The shadowsteps in combat are going to be all it has. All this plus a seemingly extreme lack of stunbreaks (Jalis needs to prepare its Stability and the Elite costs 50 Energy, Mallyx has none, Ventari has none, leaving only a Legend swap that’s reliable, and even that forces you in to a different utility set).

Thief will easily outshine Revenant for its role.

Auesis, I hope you are right. From what I have seen of the Revenant so far it seems to be a jack of all trades but a master of none. Being that it is the new flag ship Anet is pushing for the expansion, I really hope it doesn’t end up being buffed to sell more copies. Last thing we need is 80% of the pop playing nothing but Revs and the other 20% suffering.

With that said Shiro’s come back has been long waited and I am glad to see some Cantha content finally. However thieves were like the long detached step child of the Assassin spec from GW1, which was modeled from the same Cantha content as Shiro, I kinda feel disappointed Revenents got the bite at this lore rather than the thief elite spec which has no word of when it is coming down the pipe line.

This explains why they didn’t give offhand sword to thief. The mighty new profession starring Shiro Tagachi had to get it to please the new players coming to the game. Always thinking to your loyal fanbase, thank you Anet!
