Norn Guardian – Aurora Lustyr (Lv 80)
Mia A Shadows Glow – Human Thief (Lv 80)
Theoretically, if ANet implemented something like a grandmaster trait to remove revealed, we could potentially chain two backstabs.
This thought has been interesting to me, because I’ve been wondering how it could be implemented in a balanced way, so that thieves couldn’t do two backstabs hitting so hard that they instantly two shot things, or so that that can’t chain 3 backstabs and quickly 3 shot things.
I personally feel it would be an interesting play that could be styled around so long as it has correct limits. Damage, frequency, vulnerabilities, etc.
umm how would that be fun for anybody except the thief? lol
Wildly OP.
My build already kills most heavies in one stab rotation. Anything more would require nerfs elsewhere, and frankly, I don’t think that’s warranted.
They could start improving the thief by having steal not be bugged with movement skills.
Mind sharing your build? If it’s that powerful? =)
Don’t worry I found it =D
When your stabs are something like this on guardians, having access to two of them at once would just be bonkers :P
I understand it’s one of my highest stabs as it was a glassier guard, but I rarely ever dip below a 12-15k against even full tank setups.

I officially hate you! I can only dream of these numbers. I may have to post my build and gear for some help.

You can’t post stuff like that without a build link! help your brudda teefs out!
The revealed status is awkward and a sign of laziness on ArenaNet side, however, without revealed, they would have to give Stealth Attacks initiative cost to balance it — and I would think that Backstab will have an absurd cost like 5-6 initiatives.
I find it better design than most approaches. Without it stealth would be too strong and access via initiative would need to be reduced due to the nature of how easy it is to gain access to stealth again. It’s better than lowering numbers or just removing skills.
A trait that would potentially allow to chain 2 backstabs, then you add it should be balanced so thieves couldn’t do 2 backstabs … what’s the point of your suggestion?
Do any of you realise that it is already possible to chain 2 backstabs, thanks to it’s 1/4 cast time.
Basically you cast the bs at the very end of stealth so that when it connects you are not actually in stealth, allowing you to cnd for another shot (the trait hidden thief is perfect for this since you can instantly get stealth with steal after the initial bs).
The downside of this is that traits like hidden killer do not work for the 1st backstab since you are delivering it out of stealth.
Try it on the practice golems in the pvp lobby.

Reveal on dmg doesn’t work this way. It is applied according to your stealth state when you DRAW the stealth skill or any skill actually. You can backstab when fully visible, you still gain revealed.
Probably 6/6/2/0/0 signet burst build with full stacks and full zerk. xD

Can you explain how a bouncing dagger reveals a Thief when the Thief DRAW the skill outside stealth prior to going in stealth?
So just a minor correction to what you’ve posted. Backstab is a special case and foste.3098 is wrong.
Backstab skill (meaning the skill itself) will always reveal you when it deals damage regardless of whether you are visible or not.

5/6/0/0/3, or the damage wasn’t fully optimized.
Likely 25 might on an uplevel with max food/stacks.
Regarding stabs with no revealed, it’s not possible. You get the revealed debuff when a skill you land from stealth hits the target. Even if you lose stealth during the animation, you still take revealed after the stab hits.
