Time to relearn GW2 =)
S/P thief is generally best in these situations with blind spam (except dredge, for obvious reasons).
Yes in dungeons I now recall I was s/p, shortbow. Most of what I recall from dungeons was: have hp/tough gear, use s/p for blind and cond removal. Use shortbow and/or p/p for ranged fights, and don’t be an idiot.
I’m a little more interested in the best WvW goals for now, though.

Also, I’m just feeling out if there’s just one or two overpowered thief builds (compared to most other thief builds, not compared to other classes, #plzdontrant). I read something about perplexity and p/p?
Looks like my build still works about as well as it always did. No need for a change, I guess.
What I’ve experienced is that this build : S/P and SB with full berserker are practically making us PvE gods. AoE blind on demand and spammable dps with built-in evade and interrupt/stun with high sustained damage and nice utility.
I’ve had no trouble using this for dungeons, open world PvE and WvW.
I like to just run full signet build. You have a ton of choices regarding available traits, which makes it easy to move between daggers (sometimes it’s just better to 2-shot mobs with backstab), stack might, run full pistol build and so on.
You just have to learn how to not die since you’ll be squishy with only 10k health :p
i HATE to say this but p/p with ricochet and zerk gear is what ive been using…thats if u know the fractals well tho. i use sb as backup
i also use a s/p and SB
p/d 10 0 30 0 30 is very playable and probably the best in my opinion. lots of aoe bleeds and lots of survivability. id choose this.

I think I was planning to try that once I got a full set of cond gear… now I am trying to figure out the ascended stuff.
i also use s/p and SB or P/P depending.
i don’t use zerk, the gear i run is pretty balanced and forgiving.
for dungeons and fractals I use S/P and P/P. The blind field/pistol whip is good for trash, P/P can be used for bosses (if for some reason can’t tank with pistol whip) or just to regen some HP with signet of malice, blood sigil, and slice of candied dragon roll.
for WvW I decided to ditch S/D and just use S/P + shortbow/ p/p as well. Sure S/P gets the IR nerf as well but S/P is wayyyy more defensive than S/D which is actually a super aggressive weapon set. S/D could afford to be super aggressive due to IR, but with the 0.25s added to IR it’s just far too risky to run anymore. S/P can probably live with it since it still has headshot, pistol whip, and black powder to use for defense. As opposed to flanking strike which is a nice but really kinda unreliable to use and DD cripple which is nice however it’s used more as offense rather than defense and lastly CND does not really mix with S/D anyways.
I haven’t been playing WvW recently anyways, as I’m on Tarnished Coast which means I face an annoying queue all the time but basically yea I decided to ditch S/D since it will be trash after Dec.10.
No, I am tired of relearning GW2. Time for all the horrible players to nut up and shut up.
EDIT: Oh my, did… did I just go there? Ya kitten right I did! >:D
I didn’t know IR was getting nerfed. That’s the cornerstone of my play style. I step in, go d/d and backstab, then get out if they didn’t die. I was also gonna ask the best tactic against a good warrior. If I can’t depend on FS I guess I need to go with s/ p and spam blind field? I never do well trying to backstab a well built and well played warrior.
I’m not great at 1v 1 so I generally just avoid it. But I want to get better. It just seems like s/p is a death trap once you run low on ini and can’t keep up smoke.
for fractals theres really only 2 viable builds, the highest damage 25/30/0/0/15, or the beginners 25/30/0/15/0 with full berserkers armor/weapons/trinkets, the reasoning behind the full glass build is that after fotm 30 your going to be 1 shot by most trash mobs even if your in full sentinels so put everything into offense and spam your blinds, if you start getting used to berserker at low levels it makes it a lot easier at high levels

i think it’s a common misconception that people think S/P is a one tricky pony (which it can be in PvE due to how dumb the AI is). in PvP at least S/P has 5 good skills, they’re all pretty good. 1 is the auto attack which is pretty good, 2 will still be good after the nerf, ofcourse it will not be nearly as good, pistol whip is quite good especially if you use signet of malice and are sort of tanky, 4 an almost instant ranged interrupt never go wrong with that and 5 black powder don’t expect that people will stay in it but can use it for defensive purposes kinda like a sanctuary.
