And an offhand pistol for black powder (melee mobs cannot hit you, but watch out for dredges) and/or shortbow (great aoe, evade).

Use the sigil to speed up… you waste more time walking than you do killing anyhow if you level up by completing maps.
What did ANET do when the sheer mass of the event ZERG was too much for the server to support?
