So if I spec for [Trickster : Reduces recharge on tricks. Tricks remove conditions.], then does that mean when I dodge roll and trait for [Uncatchable : Leave behind Caltrops when you dodge.] do I remove a condition? Because Caltrops are a trick, and tricks now remove conditions.

No. Uncatchable is not actually using the skill caltrops, its just the effect, therefore it doesn’t classify as a trick.

lame, i thought they were connecting a lot of these traits to actual skills so that they’d benefit from other traits

Because if it did it would have a cooldown matching the skill Caltrops like Flanking Strikes does.
