I’m going to keep this short and simple.

There are two Thief changes that should absolutely be in Tuesday’s patch, as they were things that were promised or that were changed for every other profession on a game-wide level. If these changes aren’t present, it will be conclusive proof that Thief isn’t taken seriously as a profession, and that nothing about that is going to change:

Withdraw: Thieves were told they would get an increase of +10% healing on Withdraw to compensate for the raise in cooldown. This change remains unimplemented, and Thieves haven’t been able to get a single response on delivering what was promised after three months of politely asking. Unacceptable.

Pistol Range: The June 23rd patch removed most of the range increasing traits in the game in favor of making them baseline. The next few patches after that finished the job… except for Ankle Shots. Ankle Shots is the only remaining range increasing trait in the game, and it’s not even listed on the tooltip. If ArenaNet is really serious about buffing Pistol, they should start by bringing it up to the same standard as every other weapon in the entire game. Be consistent.

Thief mains just want to be treated with the same dignity and respect that is afforded to players of every other profession. Really, is that so much to ask?

Personally, I’d much rather see one of the following.

1. Mug and Improvisation made baseline.
2. Sleight of Hand and Boutiful Theft made baseline.
3. No Quarter and perhaps Hidden Killer? made baseline.
4. Shadows Rejuvination and Shadow’s Embrace made baseline.

Either one of the above options could make thief somewhat ok again.

That leaves one non-elite skill. You can take blind for stealth or haste for getting up after a nasty knockdown. Why would you even want to equip scorpion wire? I actually want to know how it can be useful or worth switching out haste for.

I’ve only used it with p/d as sub for BP it has it’s uses but the pull bug is annoying.

I think a lot of people missed what the point of me making this thread was. It was not for people to share their personal wishlists of the most sorely needed Thief changes. We all have one, but the scale of our desired improvements for the profession is a lot bigger than a small balance patch made on a rushed pre-expansion timetable can handle.

I made this thread to list two changes that absolutely, 100% need to happen on Tuesday, to deliver things that were either promised or brought to the rest of the professions on a game-wide level months ago.

More importantly, these changes are a good litmus test for what we can expect from the developers going forward. If we can’t even get two quick number adjustments that should have already been made in a random bug-fix patch, then you can kiss any hope of future mechanical changes or trait redesigns goodbye.

I’ve used it plenty in all game modes. More effectively in open world and wvw. Just pretend the range is 7-900 tops, and keep in mind pebbles body block your wire. I still think it’s great fun to interrupt things and maybe yank them around instead of LoS’ing, or burning dodges.

I also normally run trickster instead of bountiful… Heaven forbid. And rfi when I do. I am obviously a scrub thief main… I’m sure an afk bearbow could kill me…

Anyhow on topic somewhat, I see where you come from OP. I agree wholeheartedly. I sadly expect nothing anymore and just find my little bit of fun when I login.

Consistency is the biggest thing thing for me.

I play trickster too usually, the condi cleanse is important if you aren’t running shadow arts + d/p or stealth utilities. Bountiful theft can be pretty meh too, especially after the vigor nerf and the rng surrounding the boon rip.

Best use for it for me(bountiful theft) is turning enemy daggerstorm against them, and form stabilities. Meh. Plus the CD reduction is nice in trickster. More chances for wire to obstruct!

I do not think we will see much more in the way of changes thn those listed in Tuesdays patch. This does not mean they think there balance as much needs to be done as far as that concerned . It means I do not think we should expect wholesale changes in a single patch.

Whatever the changes are, this is the most important part to me. If they say something like “Pistol only got 20% damage increase but we’re listening to your feedback on the forums and you can expect a Thief rebalance 2 months after HoT launch.” It would go such a long way for the community.

For people who haven’t seen the changes shown on Twitchcon:

Thief

Thief Pistol getting damage buffs – 20%+
Potent Poison – Poison damage increase going from 10% to 33%.
Vigorous Recovery – Vigor duration going from 5s to 7s.
Expeditious Dodger – Getting a 100% duration buff from 2s of swiftness to 4s

At least ele gets kittened, it’s something.

Here what i want them to do i posted it in another thread: remake pistol skill nr 2 bodyshot to work like shortbow nr 5 infiltrator’s arrow but with shorter range. Then let theifs weponswap every 5 sec this Will make a build like D/D P/P very fun. we can use black powder with heartseaker and therefore have survivability. D/D will be in a much better place and we will have a alternative to shortbow. The way i see it this will make every Theif build better.
