UI fluff?
How about our endurance bar is different colors/has an effect based on which dodge we are using? Green for lotus, blue for dash, orange for bound. I don’t know what the extra effects could look like…
a shadowy effect.
Like, when you go Stealth and equipped Shadow Rejuv. you gain shadowy effect considering the fact that you also regain Initiative faster while in stealth? Hands down, im on it.
Between a master and apprentice, i would love to see the differences.
A shadow effect on stealth baseline would be kinda neat.
I’m not sure what else you could make work.
Baseline is neat, although effects per Grandmaster traitline could be more nasty on Thief core. To add something up: Hidden Killer put some tiny red lightning while in stealth outside or inside the shadowy part.
So much more to add, if only the thief community will help

For that sort of thing, it’d actually be rather nice if we could get visual alterations to Shadowsteps and similar
I’d call it unlikely that we get anything though.
They’re even giving our dodge fluff to the Better Thief
Oh, sorry, I mean “Revenant”
Like maybe a single shadowy effect? Or a different one for each of the different dodge styles.
Totally unnecessary and a waste of resources because you should know which type of dodge you traited for — no need for visual “fluff”.
What’s next…a visual “fluff” for which Trickery GM you traited for so you’ll know if your Steal will daze or apply confusion?
The visual effect has no value because it is expected the you at least know what your build does.
Full set of 5 unique skills for both dual-wield weapon sets: P/P and D/D – Make it happen
PvE – DD/CS/AC – If that didn’t work, roll a Reaper or Revenant.

The point is just for fun/enjoyment, not because we don’t remember our build. By your logic they should remove the special Guardian virtue effects because there’s no reason for them. For that matter, why do necros get an effect when in deathshroud? Shouldn’t they know they’re in DS without the effect?

No, what you’re asking is not similar to Guardian’s or Necro’s fluffs. If they are to implement something similar for Thief, they would add the shadowy fluff when Steal gets out of cooldown.

I’d like a cool glow for each profession. Then they could add a setting for disabling profession based glow.
However, if we are looking to glow, before we start adding effects, I think we need to remove a lot of skill effects in PvE, so that it is more easy to make sense of boss movements. So, this is to the graphics and art team. Fix skill spam effects in pve, it will make raiding way less fun. When you finish with that. Please give us all cool glow effects. Thanks.

I like this idea, you sir is gold. Maybe some improvise Lightning flash animation/sound effect to spice something up.
Welp, I think some of us misunderstood the purpose of this. I would buy all this fancy UI on gemstore at reasonable price if need be, you kno just to make my Thief more appealing to play on.

…Is that an attempt to trick Anet into caring about Thieves?
Honestly, I’d rather see the different traits get their own fluff.
I mean, my Thief has a really buffed up Steal with a heap of secondary effects. It damages, buffs me, heals me, poisons the target… I think it also causes Weakness or something.
If I’m going to Mug someone, I’d like to see a bunch of coins go flying everywhere. The effect already exists, I think. I’m sure I’ve seen it. Likewise, if I’m going to be poisoning them, maybe a little shadowy burst effect, or a little poisonous ‘splat’
It’s really not just because it’s cool, either. It’s also nice visual feedback so people know it’s happening. That both helps them, and helps me, since I enjoy using it to bait peoples’ Cleanse in PvP.

Meh who cares on Thief UI improvement anyway. all they care is buff and nerfs.

All i want is the Shadowy Aura on my Initiative Bar, i mean when i go Stealth i get my Shadowy aura because you know i get Faster Regeneration, or perhaps Shadowy Aura as baseline as you stated and when i hit someone with Cloaked in Shadow shadowy aura disappeared cos of Blind.

Sharing is caring.

I think some people are getting confused here. What I meant was exactly like guardian virtues over the user interface. Not actual effects in game on the character. Yes traits and stuff should take priority but there’s nothing wrong with wanting a few UI effects for fun.
I do like the baseline idea for stealth, my worry is because of how often thieves go in and out of stealth it would be constantly flashing on and off xD. But necros do get the outer screen effect in each DS.
The reason I said DD is because they’re focusing on elites and HoT atm so there would probably be more chance of it being tied to DD than base thief.
I do love the coloured dodge bar idea. It could be like a shadowy aura that extends out from the dodge/ hp bar along the skills through initiative/ utilities that gets fainter the further away it gets, to signify that our power comes from our dodges. This aura could be infused with a faint colour that matches the dodge type. So a dark black like shadow aura with faint green for lotus training, blue for dash etc. As an extra step it could shrink and fade the more we dodge to represent the use of energy as a DD, with the full effect being visible on a full endurance bar or vice versa. If this would be too distracting for others then it could be made to only appear when we enter combat or start a dodge.
To somebody mentioning other classes like ele, i’m all for everyone getting equal treatment. Give ele’s an effect for each attunement or to stick with the elite focus, when a tempest overloads.

Or at least add a distinctive sound effect and Exclamation Mark icon over characters’ heads when we get revealed. Something like this…

Hey, it could happen! ;-D
A clever idea, but no thanks. i rather have Red smoke around my Screen (sides) like Spider-sense for 3 to 4sec when Revealed debuff (no red smoke when not) so that i’ll know when to enter Stealth again.

Any news on this one? comeon, i’m not gonna buy HoT without all this UI improvement on Thief. hell, i even buy all this Fluff individually in gemstore rather than the expansion itself that offer improvise traits we had before.

We already get an icon when we get revealed…
Its called the Down State Icon.
Would be rather cool but I doubt we’ll see any cool things like this so far after release ;-;
