Thieves receiving the nerf bat in upcoming patch, expect a lower damage in backstab builds.
Also Stealth is to be targeted next, because apperently it isn’t working as intended at the moment.

I would like to add that this nerf is amongst other nerfs for other professions, so before we all rage this might actually be a good things since now we are all brought down to the same level.

I’d also like to thank Taru Taru for the nice conversation we had, I didn’t get the chance to say goodbye because he left without notice.

I read the screenshots you posted here and unless there’s more you didn’t include I think you’ve created a thread that’s based on some assumptions. One, everyone knows stealth isn’t working as intended due to the culling issue. So I’m not going to say that they are going to ‘rework’ the stealth mechanic rather than fixing it to actually work properly. As far as backstab getting the nerf hammer, that may happen but I don’t see that he says anything about their damage output. That said, I fully expect the thief class to be changed. Like I said, it happens in all MMO’s post launch that tweaks are going to happen. The question is, what will the babies cry about after that? My guess, mesmer tears incoming.

Say what? They decided to target the effect of stealth because they are incapable of fixing rendering problems they created? Can’t be, c’mon, if they’ve really became that incompetent they certainly wouldn’t deserve even a single penny anymore, but it’s just too absurd to be true.

I asked the question if they lowered the damage on Backstab, his answer his: among other things. So in addition to other things Backstab is one of the abilities that will see a reduction in damage.

I have more screenshots but they are about other things and therefor do not belong in the Thief subforum.

He also said that if you play more than just the Backstab build, you’d be fine with the changes.

Not saying BS glass cannon thief is OP, but to appeal to the casuals (less reactive) players, they had to change it.

meh mesmer is fine lol players get owned simply because u cant find the real mesmer. sometimes its obvious because it will be the only CLONE that is moving lmao and dodging if u use an aoe. so its not as hard as it seems. just keep on ur toes dnt get frustrated keep a cool sound mind

meh mesmer is fine lol players get owned simply because u cant find the real mesmer. sometimes its obvious because it will be the only CLONE that is moving lmao and dodging if u use an aoe. so its not as hard as it seems. just keep on ur toes dnt get frustrated keep a cool sound mind

mesmer is far from fine
moa -10 seconds without skills without pasives without utility’s -win button
time warp – area quickness for 10 seconds – and it works on golems in wvw lool
clones damage destory bunkers in less that 10 seconds
clones can destroy siege machines that they cannot even see , arrow carts balistas on tower or behind gate…..
they can hit same range as ranger with longbow + traits

Dude what is your vendetta against Mesmers? You keep posting the same incorrect information over and over again in several threads.

MOA has a 180 second cooldown; mesmer can’t move while casting it; has a long cast time; you can run/sprint away & attack with it; it is easily avoidable….basically IT SUCKS and it’s an elite skill.

Time Warp – 10 seconds of faster cast times on a 210 second cooldown. BTW if all Mesmers are using the oh so powerful Moa that you describe then they can’t use this skill because they’re both elites.

There’s no way clones can destroy a bunker in less than 10 seconds. They have to be generated and then each one hits for about 1k in full Berserker and if traited. If the Mesmer is traited for an additional shatter on himself then that’s 4 hits for about 4-6k dmg total. What bunkers are getting wiped by this?

An iBerserker traited for faster GS skills can be generated once every 20 seconds. It would only take like 2 hits at the most to destroy a phantasm. I really don’t think this one skill can bring an entire keep down.

Mesmers max distance on their ranged is 1200 with the exception of a traited pistol. The iDuelist can hit at a range of 1500. Not to mention it’s usually buggy as hell. Half the time if someone runs away or stealths it just stands there looking stupid.

Warrior profession is ArenaNet’s love child and it has been like that since GW1, it doesn’t matter what they do or how powerful they are they will keep adding more buffs to the profession that is already over the line.

It could be worse. Look at the ranger forums if you feel down sometimes…

They actually doubled the cooldown on flame trap this update, after promising there would be significant buffs for utility skills today. =)

I saw nothing but buffs in the ranger changes, and minor bug fixes.. not a single nerf.

I see Engineer, Mesmer, and Thief nerfs., some Ele and Guardian pvp healing nerfs, 1 Ele nerf and mostly bug fixes for them.

No ranger nerfs..

The buffs may not have been what you wanted, but at least you’re not losing damage by 33-50%.
