Why can’t I stop my Dagger Storm without wasting a dodge or weapon swap?
Why can’t I Shadow Escape into a tower portal while an elementalist can mist form right through there?

Are these intended game mechanics or arbitrary decisions that have been since forgotten about by anet? Any dev talk on these I’m unaware of?

you can stop dagger storm by sheathing your weapon. i learned that recently it’s pretty useful

All is vain.

shadow escape? you mean shadowstep?

because i used to fire infiltrator arrows at WvW portals all the time, and it worked. i imagine shadowstep works the same.

EDIT: oh i think i know what you mean. you sure you can’t do that?

While downed you can’t shadow escape in to a tower portal…mist form shouldn’t go through and it should be looked at.

I agree with you. I dont think any class should be able to get through portals in the downstate. Although i guess im not really sure how i feel about warriors using vengeance.. they are going to die for sure, but someone will also probably res them

Interesting topic. I’ll add some things that seem poorly implemented/unintended.

Last Refuge triggering in the middle of the daggerstorm,
during shortbow trick shot, while pistol projectiles are mid air, and while
grunk stolen from engineers does damage, and in the middle of melee auto attack
chains. Which is causing reveal.

Channeled attacks tracking and damaging the thief while in stealth.
Fully interrupting the skill putting it on its full cooldown would be wrong though,
but something like a cooldown based on how long he used the ability.
If he was channeling for ½ its duration, then ½ cooldown.

Disabling shot sometimes bugging and keeping the thief on spot,
noticed it occurs more often while evading warriors bulls charge and similar things.

Lack of viable build variations.

P/P – I think dual wielding pistols should be made independant and the first
3 skills redesigned.

And feels like they didn’t really thing through the recent buff to blind.
Right now it works as an AoE aegis, ofc condition removal removes it,
but it got way too strong, especially with thieves high access to blinds.
It was already strong as it was pre-buffed.

Recent initiative increases on S/D, and the stunbreaker removal from Shadow Return
made the weapon set less playable for other than high initiative regen builds,
Adding to the lack of viable builds even more.

This, more people should learn about it, since it’s very usefull.
The only things you can’t interrupt are things like leaps, but that makes sense after all.

last refuge is a problem, period. i’m preparing my final CnD to escape the fight, and halfway through the pre-cast, BOOM smoke everywhere, and then CnD hits, and i’m revealed. :|

disagree on blind, for once it actually makes sense to work this way, i’d say it wasn’t working as intended until now. it’s the thief’s way of being defensive: instead of stronger stats (or freaking aegis spam that never goes away), you need skill play to protect yourself, if only for a couple seconds (assuming the opponent doesn’t start flailing his weapon to cleanse on whatever target is lying around).

TBH, I rather have Vengeance (with Trait) than Mist Form.

http://sirvincentiii.com ~ In the beginning…there was Tarnished Coast…
Full set of 5 unique skills for both dual-wield weapon sets: P/P and D/D – Make it happen
PvE – DD/CS/AC – If that didn’t work, roll a Reaper or Revenant.

“Channeled attacks tracking and damaging the thief while in stealth.”

That’s working correctly. The channeled attack is still weaker than an attack that does all the damage instantly, the attacker has to channel the skill, it can still be dodged, it can still be interrupted. It’s clearly not helpful to us that it works this way but it is correct. Aegis and blind are not the best defense to channeled skills either.

There is one hidden flaw with the thief dual skills. Most attack skills can be interrupted for a utility skills. Utility skills are however queued until after a thief dual skill completes. The utility can even get lost in the queue and not happen at all. This does not affect instants like blinding powder but it does affect smokescreen and caltrops.
