It lists 600 but you only travel 500.

Either the tooltip is bugged and needs to list 500. Or the skill is bugged and needs to travel 600.

As it currently stands the targeting circle is unreliable at best because you never fully travel to where it shows and you have to overcompensate for the crappy bug… that is on top of predicting enemy movement.

Now we are what a while nine months into expac, still not fixed?

Try it your self.
1. Snap ground targeting to max range in options so you always got max range.
2. Position the Vault Aoe so it is centered on some easy to see landmark, like a change from grass to road.
3. Click and watch your character fall drastically short, every single time.

also the dmg range seems larger then what it says, 130 right? its more like hitting 200.

It’s probably something to do with the motion of the character: you travel in a parabola until the last part, where you suddenly accelerate straight down towards the ground. If the flight path was truly parabolic the range would probably be 600 units.
