Took a break from the usual d/d and decided to try out everybody’s favorite P/D condition thief, with a build so cheesy it gave my thief high cholesterol!

I now know why so many thieves run this type of build in WvW haha, not the hardest of play styles and much more forgiving, but it can still be challenging and fun when the odds are tipped against you i guess xD

Critique is welcome, and i hope you enjoy the vid!

Condi eh?

Still a strong build that got even better now that krait runes are replacing those odd max bleed duration rune mixes.

I have played this build for a way to long time. Even b4 Wildbill ran it (his build was odd back then) Then played S/D for a while and got good results. But nowhere near as effective as P/D was back then.

But it is also considered “cheese mode”(so is D/P and S/D). Its a very easy to learn build that at the end of the day shows its flaws against good players.

For example against D/P perma builds its almost a must to be able to land C&D on cloaked enemys. Against evil 2 0 0 6 6 or similar S/X builds its all about getting the fight close to the returningpoints of the enemy thiefs teleport skills to not allow him to rangereset. Dont try to C/D on them right after they jumped you unless your timing is perfect you will miss.

Shadowrefuge should be used as a heal via combofield/healing projectile. I almost never just sit in there.

Perplexity Runes do not make sense. In my opinion they never did. On a condi thief they have never been OP. They were wasted money.

Still i would recommend to learn a different build. For the fun I guess thats why people are enjoying S/x builds so much at the moment cause they are fun to play.

Haha you guessed it, i went with krait since perplex didnt seem as effective to me.
I guess anything that is easy to play people will just call cheese.. I tried this in duels against some other players that just ended up being dragged out (some lasted like 10 minutes..) or them refusing to duel me at all because i was playing this spec!
I’m usually d/d+sb power for roaming and i learnt the sword builds, but i much rather S/X in PvP since you can juke all day. Thanks for watching

Which build do you consider cheesier? :P

Yay! I’ve been running P/D for a little while now and it’s so fun! I’m ashamed that I do so much cheese, but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. One thing you might try out that I’ve recently been testing is Balthazar runes. This way you can access burning as an extra condition. It takes away your poison from your elite, but if you use doom sigils you can acess points on fairly easily.

May not be better than what you have, but just different. I figured I’d offer the measly amount of advice I have to give xD Good to see another condi thief out there!

This is that new sound. Ya’ll ain’t ready.

You should try using this build. If you use Shadow Refuge + venoms and fire through the dark field from Shadow refuge you wouldn’t believe how much damage it does. Not only that, but you heal practically a full bar.

I’ve always used p/d condition because I like the keep-away ranged style play and agility; However, I really lament not having an interrupt. Lately I’ve been considering dropping shortbow as my secondary weapon set for d/p. That will give me headshot for interrupts and shadow shot and heartseeker for chasing nearly dead opponents down. Thoughts?

Thanks for the advice! I’ll be sure to try it out sometime soon, love testing new builds hehe

D/P works pretty nice as a secondary set, pros and cons for each but i’ve found that i dont really need the interrupt since you can outlast most opponents in fights.. however the shortbow for me, has saved my life so many times, with the immob, AoE poison/bleeds, and most importantly the access to the hundreds of infiltrator’s arrow shortcuts, personally, i wouldn’t switch it out

I do prefer the bow. Someone in game had also mentioned using Scorpion Wire with the p/d condition build because it acts as an interrupt but the cast on that seems too slow to me.
