Guild Wars 2

Hi guys,

Like to share a 11min clip of my thief battles. Includes many mistakes I have made but it is for your entertainment. This is my thief (before dec10, 2013 patch).

lets keep track.

• 1st fight is you against a guardian that didnt fight back.
• 2nd fight is you, a sentry, and your thieves guild against a warrior that continued to only fight the sentry until it dies, and he engages you at 20% health.
• 3rd fight is you against the 1st guardian again, who again runs away and doesnt fight back after the warrior drops.
• 4th fight is you, multiple guards and yaks against a thief and guardian who are both at half health from fighting said guards.
• 5th fight is you killing an uplevel who basically died to guards anyway. His guardian friend was at half health (from guards) by the time you swap to him, and he tries to fight you inside the camp with said guards.
• 6th fight is you killing an ele, who is already at 40% health from fighting guards…
• 7th fight is better. You stomp a commander i can only assume someone else already downed, evade attacks while pressuring an uplevel ranger, rez a guy and pick off a mesmer that for some reason had 10% health. Then down but fail to kill a longbow/bear ranger who didnt fight back.
  It was better because you did this while living through an outnumbered situation.
• 8th fight is even better, you win against a guy with full health. But: its a ranger with a longbow and a bear. Maybe next time?
• 9th fight is against a full health engineer. Engineer almost drops you, you shadow refuge and full reset. Reopen with thieves guild, both of you go down at the same time roughly.
• 10th fight, an actual win against a full health non-bowbear. Well, we’re 1-9. Might make the playoffs with a wildcard right?

The good news is, did not see you try to exploit any permastealth. The bad news is, not really any good fights in this video.

1st guardian and the guardian in 3rd fight are both the same. no wonder they kept running. lol oh boy this was a hoot.

All I saw was how OP thieves are.
Look the warrior was running away but the thief could keep up with him (via steal).
He totally used stealthed which confused people and granted him the upper hand.
And he won 1v2+ fights.
CLEARLY, thieves OP.
I think P/D should be nerfed… next-next patch. remove the bleeds.

thief can never keep up with a warrior that wants to get awy. not after 3000 range its not gonna happen. the initial sprint yes….

(Though, to a certain extent I do wish they nerf thieves to the ground and a couple feet under. Just so that they could move on to nerfing another class and I will get to enjoy those tears…. most likely mesmers as warriors would be the last thing to nerf)

I think P/D should be nerfed… next-next patch. remove the bleeds.

If they sufficiently upped the power scaling on Sneak Attack that could be a buff. Imagine a zerker style P/P & P/D thief bursting targets down from range. I could live with that.

Really painful to watch honestly, no flow through the music. Here’s a good tip, if you engage in combat with some one that DOES NOT want to fight. Don’t bother recording.

First few fights are showing how I was camping/ambushing at certain places. Most of the time in WvW, people do not want to fight you unless they are greater in numbers. Even when chasing opponents who just want to run away, I did not have it easy. Thief is quite a challenge to play seriously. I am sure most thief are like me where we had bad timing to skills usage. You are not alone.

I acknowledge there is mostly nothing constructive in this video but we already have so many quality/inspiring fights video by the likes of Yishii, Blackbird, Wildbill and many others.

It is really a video to laugh at a stupid/noob thief, that’s me.

PS: So hard to find music to add to the video without youtube telling you, “this music is copyright…. you cannot use…”

like the video as it shows exactly what not to do

first, guardian always run that is their first mistake. if he engage you and put some pressure he would have better chance no to die
second, LB ranger are the easiest to take. try to engage ranger SB+ sw/d with condition dmg they are harder
i never saw you using cnd+steal. i guess you’re trait stealth on steal. so drop it
if use see LB warrior just steal and use it to reflect if he stupid to attack you he will die fast
dont engage engineer inside his kits area lure him out
try to use thieves guild inside SR as they revealed your location even if you in stealth
if you stealth sometime try seconds cnd as enemy usually dodge or using block skills and you’re just losing your sneak attacks for nothing not to mention reflecting them to you
