Well I happen to play a D/D Ele and a BS thief, and my thief is def. the more OP of the 2. It’s just that (tank) D/d Ele is a good counter to GC thief. D/d Ele is countered by ranged specs like P/P, rifle warrior.

We’ve all died to a GC thief at least once and thought holy heck what was that? However after the 3rd of 4th encounter it should never happen again.
I played the spec myself all through Rabbit in PvP and by the time you get into Deer there are very few folks who would be beatable by the spec. You even see GC warriors die out as you go up the levels and they also have the insta-gib gene to unload on you if you don’t know what is going to happen.
People just get better over time and GC’s fizzle out.

It happens that I play Elementalist , Thief and Warrior myself, and you’re insane.
In what paralel universe ranged specs are good counter to D/D Elementalists?Should I count whit you now the ammount of Close Gaps D/D Elementalist has?Every atunement? Slot skills? Extreamly good ones for that matter.How about CC’s ?But I’m sure its not necesary ,right?
Ohh and P/P thief and rifle warrior are the most idiotic 1v1 builds.Good lucking killing ANYONE whit that.

In fact ,the only counter Thief has against a D/D elementalist are S/D builds.Other than that its unbeatable , and THAT is not fair.Not a good for nothing stupid build only succesful in WvW killing newbs.It doesn’t deserve all this atention .Move on , you’re way behind.Other builds that you need to worry about you know , like P/D thief?Good luck trying to take that down if you can’t even deal whit the lamest and most obvious build Thief has.
I got more HP than you lol
Thieves and Guardians are in the same health tier and you are wearing all carrion gear I’m guessing. So yes you have more health, but he has a crap load more armor

considering how much good the first aegis did. do you truly think that would have turned this situation around?
A second aegis could have given enough time to finish his heal animation, which is at least 8k+ healing. He could also have used virtue of resolve and the shield 5 skill for some more healing. This would heal him for about 10k hp in total. Outside of backstab and heart seeker spamming, the damage of a glass cannon thief is quite easy to handle.
Well, i understand your point but passive mitigation does in fact have an effect on the outcome of a fight.
It does, but I think people believe that slotting vitality and toughness gear means you shouldn’t be able to be burst down. This is a misconception imo. Gear is just meant to support your play-style, not make you an invincible tank that doesn’t have to bother doing anything to counter other builds.
Stacking vitality and toughness gear should mean that you can take more damage, but if a well played burst build attacks you in a 1v1 and you don’t bother to counter them and you still win, then I would consider that unbalanced and unfair.
Condition removal + dodge / teleport / stability all would have probably saved you here.
Regardless, you completely blew past the thief for several seconds just to chase down a lowbie ranger.
Glass cannon thieves do a ton of damage quickly, yes. They also get their stuff slapped by anyone who breaks out of their combo, in fact outside of their combo they are probably the easiest kills you’ll get.

Very easily done, same setup I have. Basilisk Venom, Haste, Steal, Cloak and Dagger, Backstab = DEAD and haste lasts for 4 seconds which gives quickness usually will still have haste on while im finishing so the finish moves goes faster as well.

I’d be embarrassed to post a video of myself chasing a lowbie ranger only to get literally outplayed by a silly backstab thief. It’s not about checking every player necessarily, but if you run no condition removal, blow your teleport and dodges, or have no access to stability as a Guardian of all things…You’re just asking for it.
How many people don’t know about the backstab build still? They’re common enough to slot at least one defensive utility that will counter them in such a way.

Yeah, you won the fight. What’s the problem? He hit you really hard 3 times because that’s what backstab builds do and you got back up, murdered him and the ranger. I’m confused about how you wanted this fight to go.
Still, one Thief alone, was able with only three hits, deal this damage in this order:
4410dmg, 4651dmg, 7344dmg.How is this even possible? I repeat, no cry intended. Just studying the situation.
This is fairly simple, you are playing an unbalanced pvp mode.
World v World v World allows for pve strength gear. This allows a glass cannons to really pump up crit damage to 106%.
This negates any bonus you think your getting from toughness. Since the damage dealt to you is increased by 156% after toughness reduces the base hit.
The skills in play are steal, cloak and dagger and backstab.
The first 2 brought you down below 50% which allowed the final hit to get at the very least a bonus 20% extra damage. Possibly more depending on other traits and runes in play.
If you were playing sPvP you’d have gotten away with about a third of your hp remaining.
