Vs bunker elementalist/guardian in tpvp
Good luck with that mate, they nerfed theirs damage way too much. Even if you roll residual venom (30 into power- grandmAster trait and follow up with the basilisk venom elite the Ele will still heal up and will “outlast” your burst. Even if you go condition damage, and please don’t that build is too slow for fast paced combat nothing is effective against the Ele.
With GC you may kill the bunker guardian even by then good coordinated team will just come to the rescue, you have to build your their 25/30/0/15/0 in respect pick up the venom utilities Devourer venom, spider venom, and basilisk venom.
A d I’m lately reading post a out nerfing another 25% damage of the thief now bunker eles have become to powerful in TPVP and wvwvw.. Lol
The only 1vs1 builds we have are P/D and S/D.
P/D is too niche in tPvP ( altough it has good utility with D/D or with a venom share/venom leeching build) due to being able to spread very few conditions ( cripple, poison and bleeds, maybe weakness), easily cleansed by those kitten eles ( be them bunkers or not) and necros.
Even more, skill locking kinda forces you to pick up caltrops, especially on khylo.
S/D was very powerful pre-nerf, now the OH dagger damage is too cheap to bring your opponent down, due to C&D being your main damage move, Tactical strike daze has been reduced TOO much ( altough it needed a nerf, indeed) and , altough you can still make it work and be effective 1vs1 against most classes, against more defensive oriented builds ( bunkers and semi-bunkers) the fight will just go on for ages, as long as you have a good build with 30 points in shadow arts ( going glass cannon is worthless with S/D, and you don’t need moar ini, since the set is pretty ini cheap).
Overall, S/D, in current meta, and with D/D thieves being so strong as a roamer, doesn’t bring anything to the table.
S/D can beat a bunker ele, while P/D can beat a bunker guardian.
aNet wants the thief to be a support class, or so it seems ( lulz balance phylosophy, when they first claimed that every class would have been viable to do any role), as a D/D roamer i don’t really think i can beat any decent player 1vs1, even more when they are bunkers at least in tourneys.
But to pick off weakened people, there’s nothing better.
If you want a pretty decent 1vs1 glass cannon build, you should try glass cannon D/P, and switch those 15 points from trickery to shadow arts.
You lose 5 % more damage from the side, bbut now you can stealth at will, and start the backstab -> mug combo from stealth whenever you want.
Shadow shot is still crap, but one day or another, they’ll make it better ( a man can dream).

D / D aura elem easily kill everyone.
It’s a tough fight no matter what. D/D eles running their typical build will typically be running a lot of condition removal, heals, stun breaks, and have auras on top of that. S/D has the best chance IMO, but just beware of shocking aura, if that pops up, you’ll probably need to shadowstep back if you get stunned and wait a few seconds.
longbow hunter have better chance
In melee (even if s / d) knokdown> firegrab> stomp
Have a very good ele in my guild. When he double down bunkers its nearly impossible to beat him 1on1.
he can heal more than me so he outlasts. And has a shield effect that absords 3 attacks, and a mist form, to drag out the fight. Only if i land fortunate burst or manage to phsyce him into burning cds do i win.
So, anyone got some tips for how to build a thief for 1on1 vs ele bunkers.
1)You can start from making an ele and memorize all the animations that you need to be aware of, the CD and how traits works
2)You need to apply the right condition and the right time, spamming in the hope to accomplish something will bring you nowhere
3)You’re talking about an experienced ele as your friend apparently know how to time mist form/arcane shield so do not generalize, a freshly made ele is nowhere as difficult as your friend
4) Watch gameplay videos and learn
5) Be always aware of the range of each weapon and how to use it to your advantage
