War / Thief for main
This is an impossible question to answer. You play what you like..
The beauty of it is that you can play whichever character you want whenever, and since WvW ability points are account bound there’s no reason to NOT play both.
As someone who has an 80 thief, ele, mes, war, and engineer, play what you feel like playing that day. I would consider thief to be my main, as it’s the most fun for me. Ele and mes are tied for second, with ele taking a slight lead because of the acrobatic nature and great utility/group support. Engineer and war are alright. They are fun once in a blue moon for me, but their playstyle is not for me in long stretches. They lack the same feel that you get from thief/ele/mes (hitting hard with high
As Sir Kaboomski said, impossible to answer, just play what you like and switch when you need a break.
I main both warrior and thief and i love both of em. All the other classes are meh to me, but this isn’t really strange to me considering i played both a warrior and rogue in WoW. Why not have both? If you really must choose one, use whichever one you feel like playing the most. Then if you end up wanting to play the other one eventually, no buggy just logout and go to town.
I spent a good 10 minutes writing a response for this. Though, I decided I was thinking too hard about it and there really is a simple response to it.
Warrior are better for Dungeons, but they’’re also the most boring class (in my opinion).
Thieves are still very much viable. They are also far, far more enjoyable.
I mained a Warrior from the beginning and crafted a Thief to 80 a few months ago, jumped in WvW right away and have been in love since.
I’ve played thief from game launch, and I’m still in love with it bro, even after nerfs also. More than my war, mes, etc.

Well if you think about your characters future… Warrior will always be golden child of devs in every game.Period. Thief/Rogue/Assassin class will always get uncalled for nerfs because keyboardturningclickers demand it. So i gues warrior.

I now spend about a equal amount of time with both (used to exclusively play the thief for months).
I do certain dungeons with a thief (CoF, CM specifically) and then a warrior for others. I use warriors in WvW for larger raids, while thief is for small roaming setups. Considering I don’t PvP whatsoever, I can’t comment much on that.
Personally I find thieves more “fun” to play. Compared to warrior they’re way squishier. Thus there is more of an emphasis on timing evades. Also, stealth in this game is the master trolling ability. Coupled with Shadowstep and it’s one mindtrip for the opponent if they’re not familiar with the class.
