Guild Wars 2

Hey all, looking for a “New to Thief Roaming” build that I could use, it’s been recommended to me that I use a D/P + SB Power Build, which is cool, and the combo of stacking Stealth is easy enough for me to do. But as there are MANY D/P Builds out there for the “Roaming Thief” I am stuck on how to appropriately build and gear myself up, so any help/guidance would be very most appreciated, thanks!

I personally like to use Critical Strike instead of Shadow Arts and I use Flanking Strike instead of Thrill of the Crime, Trickster instead of Bountiful Theft. For Sigils I use Generosity over Air on SB.

I mostly target low health enemies on situations like 2v2 or 1v1 they’ll go down very fast if they are not bunkers, use Pistol 5 and finish them (you’ll finish faster due to haste, and won’t take damage due to blind by Pistol 5, you’ll still take condition damage tho).
That and rapidly decap far when possible (SB 5 and Shadowstep to move fast), just don’t do this if your teammates will loose a battle because you left.

Also try to res your teammates when possible, shadow refuge is very good for this.
And when you are on team fights use SB 4 on down people, poison will make them revive 33% slower.

Generally, I’d go for a mix of Valk/Zerker armor, Pack Runess, Zerker/Assassins Weapons and Zerker/Soldiers/Cavalier trinkets, depending on what you think you need and DA/SA/Tr, just because alot of roamers are condi roamers.

Don’t go by what YouTubers do though (many are just highlight reels vs wvw pugs), just try see what works best for yourself.
I don’t think Thief builds are that diverse.

yes sir they do. They are off and on … Just the number of quality pvp and WvW videos soon after the patch quickly dropped. But yeah they are off and on some of them even tested the DD.

I second this recommendation. It gives you enough crit to remain a threat with autos, enough health to take an extra hit or two, and still packs a punch. Valk or zerk weapons as well, in my opinion. Once you’re feeling better (or worse), can start adjusting.

The YouTube users listed, especially the commentating ones, are insightful as to why they’re performance is good if you understand what you’re watching.

Metabattle DP roaming build is acceptable and utilitarian as hell. You’ll get great use out of it playing smart and quick. Once comfortable, I implore you: explore your options.

After toying around a bit this is what I came up with, the gear will replaced with Ascended versions of themselves as I get the resources and gold to do so, what do you all think, this build is for WvW (Roaming/Small-Group play.) Thanks!
