Topic says it all. Not ranting I’m sure with the expansion tons of new skins will be made, just saying at this point in time almost all skins don’t even look right on a thief, much less look good. Almost all of them look very caster-ish and not melee at all.

Here’s a small list of ones I’ve found that are decent:
1) Scythe skin
2) torment staff
3) chaos staff
4) guild pillar (not my personal taste but a lot of people seem to like it as one of the few decent choices)

Maybe a female thief could make bifrost look pretty or something.

ps: everyone speculating thief’s got a rifle… you were wrong, unfortunately Doesn’t really seem fair everyone else get’s their own new unique weapon but thieves and rangers both get staffs. But that’s its own topic.

That’s the same list I was thinking of. I put a request in the PoI thread to allow some spears and tridents to be used as staff skins. Some tridents are already staves or vise versa, we just need more.

I’m actually going with Staff until I get the new staff skin or something better is put into the game. Staff is simple enough even though it’s a little caster like at the top but not too much.

I think mace, ax, or shield would have made great weapons, but I won’t complain about staff.

the only thief staff i want to have is that staff skin from the monkey king, thats an awesome looking quarterstaff thats a total must to become a Staff Skin for us, and be it just for the gemstore, I don’t care…

Mesmer’s Chronomancer and Revenant’s Herald both got shields and no one was upset about that.

Anyway back on topic there are plenty of staves in the game right now that look good for melee. Most of them though are basically long maces. I would like to see more staves in a similar style to the Daredevil’s bo-staff looking weapon.

Currently, I can’t see ever using any staff but the new Daredevil staff skin. Everything else just looks way totop heavy and imbalanced for a bo-style staff.

I bought Monsoon. Really like the slim look of the handle and the little water deals on the end of it looks pretty dope.
Now to come up with a armor skin set that I feel fits the elite.

•Etched brand
•Ceremonial stave
•Lionguard stave
•Primitive pillar (crude weapons look great on charrs)
•The crossing (just to see the lantern swinging ’bout)

I was gonna use the Guild Pillar, pretty much a flat blade on a stick, but I think I’ll be using the Kodan Staff on my asura. It’s big and hefty, and doesn’t look like it’d break on impact.

I got my Sunlight Spear Chaos Staff awaiting smackage. Too bad I can’t dye it gold though but close enough.

I personally think Ley Line staff is cool looking on thief. I bought it specifically for Dare Devil. It’s one of the few among the above listed ones that fits thief well.

I think the Molten Staff is reasonably decent-looking for the cost. The top is a bit big (bo staves would be better) but it’s all spikey and firey which sort of suit us

After seeing the announcement post by ANet I’m thinking we’ll get an outfit and staff skin, much like Warriors get a unique torch skin if they go Berzerker. I also think these changes will open up more options for the gem store for ANet, and you know how they love to sell us things…

I was actually thinking about crafting a bifrost ^_^ I have a thief, elementalist, and guardian so it’d be the legendary that most of my characters can use but then again I don’t care for elementalist staff outside of group play. Then again the dagger is kinda cool but seems more lighterish than magic.

Out of the skins I’ve looked at, the following are easily the leaders so far:

Ceremonial Staff
Chaos Staff
Tormented Staff
Imryldyeen/The Legend
Emberspire
Monsoon

My personal favourite is Imryldyeen (AKA The Legend). It has that far east look and also looks function as a melee staff.

Actually Mace would make a LOT of sense on a Thief. Considering Thieves will often carry clubs to knock out guards etc. They could have made a smaller, basic club skin design that would have fit perfectly.

Monsoon is decent….the water waves at both ends are very subtle and not too caster looking.

Pirate crook looks pretty brutal!

The holiday toy staff is also quite reasonable.
