What WvW builds do you guys use?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0OWwwqPxDI
I currently run 5 different builds. There a good reason to use any of them at a given time as they each have specific advantages and playstyles. It does not always have to be meta to be fun and effective.
The single largest problem with this is that i will often play one for a length of time, bring another in for a different style or need and find myself early on using the wrong skills at the wrong time (Ie no I do not want 4 on this set)
For the past while I have been focusing on a p/p staff build with high boon durations.
The might off the PP will last the full 16 seconds and coupled with might off food you can stack 25 in a short time, switch to staff to use the AA. Generally crit rate once stacked is upper 80 percent range. Swifness uptime is 100 percent and with two sources of fury it hard not to have fury running. What I really like though is the high quickness uptime (around 50 percent of the time) which allows a nice spike to damage output. Unlike the traditional d/p in and out style , this build intended to stick in battle a bit longer with good condition cleanse (the extra two off the Elite is very helpful) and incoming heals working alongside evades and blinds.
I recently just put the hydro sigil back on th staff. I find this very useful as the frost burst itself will crit and as I am generally might stacked this swap can lay down significant AOE damage via frost burst followed by a chilled enemy that you can wail on. Since I am not focusing everything on the steal QP works nicely as I do swap a lot and that extra INI comes in handy.
I have also started a retry of an s/d build with SB that is trying to maximize boon theft. The latter a work in progress but is quite fun and suprisingly robust.
The other builds I use are p/d condition using core and the more traditional power d/p.

I use simple pp build for almost a year now:

Very nice all around build – and I am too lazy to even change and experiment more

This build is mainly used to troll zerglings. Playstyle is basically same as the marauder/ valkyrie variant. This build will allow you to troll up to 20 people at a time as well as being accused of hacking.
The metabattle build you posted is definitely usable, although I would recommend running the Deadly Arts > Shadow Arts variant. DA simply offers an enormous dmg boost and the utility (altho a bit rng-based) from Improvisation can be incredibly handy…If you dont like Improv you can definitely switch to executioner for even more damage (although I would seriously recommend giving it a try at least). With the DD-trailine you generally can experiment a little….almost every trait-tier has some viable options.
As for Utilities, Shadowstep and SoA are a ‘must have’ imo, since both skills are pretty overstacked and offer a lot of utility (especially SoA in WvW). For heals, both Withdraw and CV are solid choices. The last utility slot can essentially be anything and comes down to player preference. SR, Bandit’s Defense, Blinding Powder or even a damaging skill like Impairing daggers are good choices overall. For Elites we unfortunately only have 2 viable choices: BV or IS. Personally I think that BV is far more usefull than IS…however, fell free to experiment a little.
When it comes to sigils, you basically just look to maximize your damage. Fire, Air, Blood and even Draining (especially when running Impacting Disruption) are all solid choices. Some people suggested Hydromancy as well, which definitely can work for some extra burst damage….but really is a double-edged sword since it CAN break stealth if you are a bit careless.
I almost exactly run the Meta build from PvP with a marauder/zerker mix and draining sigil.

I also have a necro friend I roam with and our 2 builds are awesome together. I currently stream with this build and am working on a vid.
I also want to thank my teef senpai for the core of this build “you know who you are”
Ive made some changed to fit my playstyle as I dont like using exactly other peoples builds (this way I can take some credit, lol). The food is optional (seaweed salad was the initial choice, until I found/cooked this little gem)
I have also started using power siggy and basi venom which replaced Imparing Daggers (which works and is strong when it lands) and Impact Strike. I never activate the power siggy so I can keep the passive.
Im also always looking to duel other teefs (as well as other classes) so if you are NA and want to test a build, let me know

I run this build 90% of the time, its a core thief build

If I’m feeling lazy or want to troll I use this Condi no stealth Daredevil build. Super easy to play.

I have a 3rd Daredevil but cant remember the build details, personally i just find Daredevil d/p perma stealth and evade boring so dont play this thief any more.
I have a couple tube videos showing the builds I use if you search for T1NG2011.
There are fun builds that fill a niche and might even do it well if you’re group is on point but after awhile you’ll likely find yourself building towards the conquest metabuild and a loose template with Acro staff + d/p or p/p in general anyway depending on where you’re fighting at. I do still like SA sometimes with Rending Shade when I’m floating near a squad but it takes some timing to sync up boon strips for stacks instead of generic boons.

i am using this build for everything (WvW, fractals, PVE, PVP….) using P/P, D/D
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vZAQRAoY6an8MB9OhFPBGOBkmiFaCb+C2BLhaBgJUEYLPNc2TA-TFCGABlpfIQ1fY4IAIwBBAgTAwUKBl+BAQ0+jyvAAIAzsMDA38m38m38mlCYUVWA-w
it has very good power and some healing for survive. This build using invis only for more damage. But this is only solist build.
Are there still good number players using D/D and P/P?

P/P yes…D/D not as common in a DPS build anyway

I’m using either my d/p pvp build or accro staff. My sets are a mix of berserker / marauder stats to reach 14k hp. It’s a hp threshold that saved me a couple of time compared to full berserk ^^
