Hi guys I just finish my wvw session didnt really enjoy that much tbh. Running into so many groups running tanky Stun wars, necros(dire gear has turn them into a beast) and tanky as hell guards just got really tiresome. Lately it feels that the thief is so inadequate. Even in small scale fights where the thief is meant shine it feels like almost every other profession is more effective with less effort. Fighting over camps and sentries against other professions has recently got more annoying feels like the thief dps isnt enough anymore.

Incomparsion to other professions theif sucks a zerging, in small scale fights imo 2nd worst only just beating out the ranger, and at the moment the Warrior is probably the most effective roaming class great mobility can disengage from a bad situation very easily, has good dmg while being tanky at the same time. Also if a thief and War fight over a camp or sentry its very likely the war will win. I dont know maybe it just me but how does everyone else feel about the current state of the thief?

Anyways i don’t even play 1 hour daily this days since everything sucks.

I play a thief. I don’t PvP, just PvE. Did I deserve the nerf?

I’m so disheartened. I’ve endured all the past changes to thief and I’ve been okay with it, but I’ve always stuck by S/P as essentially my staple set. Since it isn’t stealth based it didn’t get as much hate, but this last patch essentially (and shortsightedly) nerfed Pistol Whip into near useless against a good player. It doesn’t even really work great anymore in PvE as the .5sec less on the stun is certainly noticeable against camps and stacks of enemies.

Guess the lesson is I should have invested more time/hours into warrior.

after seeing all classes get some buff ,thief only get nerfed is kinda put me down

i love the thief and play it from day 1. tried every build out there and every time another nerf is lurking from the corner

they nerf stealth so ppls go to evade and dodges build and they nerf the dmg

in wvw raid perspective thieves dont have any room anymore as warrior can do it better . sure we can still kill doly faster and safer

roaming perspective sure i can still kill with good burst some zerk build but it seems everyone using high toughness these days so most of the fight enemy just run away

and still anet buff the condition mesmer even more with almost 6 second cd (when traited) on blocking torment spam with scepter… very nice, buff the engineer and ele with bigger aoe

i think thief will become more as a niche play for ppl who still like the stealth and more pve base than pvp or wvw

They could split nerfs between SPvP (which is whats causing universal sword nerfs) and PvE, but I think WvW gets in the way of that.

i dont see any real nerfs goin on for thief still the same undefeated ganker in wvw

I am a thief, and I think the class is fine. You need to learn to play something other than perma stealth now.

I rolled a warrior a little while back, have been thiefing since launch. Finally got him lvl’d spec’d and geared, and holy hell I enjoy everything more now.

Dunno if it was thief burnout or what, but I seriously am enjoying kitten more lol.

I would also be annoyed if my main and only character was becoming useless. Lucky for me I have a guardian and warrior. I can be tanky as hell or stun lock, or in some cases, both. Which should I choose?

If its so easy why do most thieves play perma stealth specs, and why are there nearly zero complaints about it?

dp Perma stealth is what is putting our profession in a sorry state(compared to other prof def not op just annoying). Any time anet decide to change/nerf some it feel like they are trying to tone down perma stealth thiefs but not everyone plays that spec and it seem they end up hurting more other thief build rather than perma stealth dp thiefs.

That’s why some of us went the higher road and didn’t pick the ezmode spec. Perma stealth is the worst thing that’s happened to our class. It enrages the player base, make thieves hated and despised and drives the nerfs.

how LS or basilisk nerf make me learn to play “something other than perma stealth”?

Perma stealth thief are the same as runaway warriors. You can’t trait perma stealth on thief without blowing traits for init-regen which screws up the DPS your build can do. Mostly all you are good for is running/hiding. In fact in combat perma stealth is not even remotely possible thanks to Revealed.

Devs just needs to stop fricking TRYING to nerf anything on thief. The amount of condi-spam, cc spam, blast healing, tankiness and face-flaying DPS that other classes can do with little sacrifice is ridiculous but they only get more and more every patch.

Survivability of other classes = cc spam, blast water heals/deathshroud and the like, speedrun capability, PLUS normal heal.

Survivability of thief = stealth. Anything other than Shadow Refuge doesn’t even give us enough stealth to get away in many cases, and SR has such a stupid mechanic that a lot of the time it doesn’t even work because HELLO HERE I AM! SEE MY GIANT HOUSE ICON?! THIS MEANS I AM LOCKED INTO THIS CIRCLE OR I GET THE REVEALED DEBUFF SO COME KILL ME OR KNOCK ME OUT OF THE RING!… on top of that, if you stealth to save your butt when about to go down, you still have to make sure you saved a dodge because even though you can’t be seen or targeted WATCH OUT FOR THE CHANNEL-SKILL SPAM that can still hit you AFTER you’ve been stealthed for 2-3 full seconds. Oh but not that it matters since when your dodge finishes the channel will still be going and you will still eat it.

Just stop handing out faceroll buttons.

Yeah I’m raging and I am kitten ed off because OP classes still cry about thieves which inspires nerfs that shouldn’t happen.. Maybe it’s just time for thieves to QQ hard! This isn’t even specifically tied to this most recent patch. I’ve watched it gradually happen with each patch. “Here’s your candy everyone!! Wait! Not you thief! Don’t even think about it! Go to your room you sad disgrace to humanity, you disgust me!”

Thief ideology: Learn to play only one weapon set that sort of doesn’t emphasize the shackles we’ve put on you.

Other class ideology: Do whatever you want because you aren’t limited by shackles!

Maybe I am biased but I feel like those who play thieves are the only ones forced to rationalize changes by convincing themselves they are “OP” and should just adapt and accept that what we have going against us is somehow justified by some means.

Well permastealth is pretty much face roll too. That’s why thieves are hated. Blame that silly mechanic.

Because stealth specs are better. Evade spamming still doesn’t take skill and you don’t need to L2P to do it, lol.

Trust me when I say if stealth gets hit really hard, every thief and their mother will run evade and soon after that’ll go down the kittenter too.

Faceroll

Background: when someone alleges a class is either A.) very simple to play, requiring no attention to dps rotation or B.) has a hugely overpowered ability that comprises an unfair % of their DPS done.

In those situations, you, the alleged simpleton, would then keybind your entire keyboard to one or two abilities, carefully place left cheekbone on the W key, and while maintaining consistent pressure between your face and keyboard, roll your lips, nose, right cheekbone to about the L key, and then backwards to the W key, and then repeat.

Faceroll

a faceroll is when playing a video game, to use one’s face on the keyboard to play the game instead of using one’s hands.

You cannot stealth combo by facerolling.. it is completely and physically impossible. You’d spend more time in combat and “revealed” than stealthed.

Idk, what the problem is. I feel like Thief got buffed. Blinding powder being a blast finisher, and Meld in shadows effecting SR is huuuuuge. Plus they finally fixed Withdraw! I love the changes so far, i really have nothing negative to say other than maybe how the 1.5 sec cast time on shadow trap might affect my play in tournaments.

Other than than that I am still dominating other classes np, besides maybe certain specs of mesmer and war, but that just turns into a stalemate anyways.
