I keep reading about a new P/P venomshare build, but I can’t seem to find any details on it. Can anyone she some light on this?

Don´t know what kind of built could it be. Pistols and venoms need to be traited to be good (especialy venoms), but both use completly diferents trait lines which make it both have one of the worst synergies of all the thieves options.

If you want to run a Venomshare built take shortbow + the new Bliding Powder with your venoms, the synergy between them are lots better.

Not sure why you’d run P/P instead of P/D for this.

I don’t know about any venom build revolving around p/p, but I use a SB venomshare build in WvW, with p/p as the secondary set. I don’t switch to it a whole lot, but there definitely is a reason to using p/p with venoms.

Venoms work well with pistols in that unload will quickly proc every hit of a venom from a pretty safe range. Other weapon setups can’t pump out each venom strike as quickly or reliably. If you’re already using SB to spread the venoms around, it’s useful to have p/p to have a way to quickly push them all onto one guy if you need to (while staying at range), since SB can’t do this.

I’d still rather run P/D for this. The same thing you get from Unload, you can get from Sneak Attack. And this allows you to run a condition-based build with venoms, since you’re getting bleeds from your SA, Torment from Shadow Strike, etc.

Hey man, nice build there, think it will work (probably) but as P/P you don’t have so much profit from landing poisons like you do with P/D (which benefits from constant condition pressure). IMO you just sacrificing your potential into teamwide buff, which is good, but there are sets that synergize better with it.

If you want P/P try this.
You should be like rangedDPS (staff ele/SDengi/LB ranger) – but you have that big mobility on a particular fight and a lot of burst option with switch to D/P. It also your escape mechanic when your cooldowns are blown – you are just switching to melee set and BP+HS out of problems.
While being effective at range you have a lot of tricks as D/P zerker thief. Being very confusing on top of that (skillset shown to enemy like S/D, using withdraw, going d/p stealth and shooting out of stealth with flurry of bullets) is a win ticket.

dDuff is there a PVEish / WVW version of that build? Does it work there? Wife plays a thief but she really prefers P/P.

Been looking for a good P/P build for a while, hard to find.

Hi dDuff – It’s funny, I ran pretty much your exact s/p build in wvw and I also now run something extremely similar for p/p in wvw group fights. I agree that people don’t expect p/p and then if you switch to d/p they melt.

Hi KOPPER, I know you asked dDuff but I run almost the exact same build in wvw. I use 10/30/0/0/30 and take DA: III, CA: V, (VI or combo crit chance or signet use if taking Sig of Agility instead of Roll For init.), XI, and Trick: V, X(ricochet for groups, VII for solo), and XI(sometimes XII if solo focusing more on D/p).

I use withdraw, shadowstep, roll for ini or sig of agility, infil sig, and daggerstorm. For wvw group play, I take as many stunbreaks as possible since hammertrains are still pretty dominant.

It works very well, as most people underestimate the use of p/p with ricochet if you have good positioning and take advantage of combo fields. I run a mix of soldier/zerk gear and take traveler runes.

If you p/p, dont use stealth as it just limits your evade potential. With withdraw, ROI, 3 dodge rolls and shadow step your the gingerbread man, especially with 25% swiftness passive. Most theives cant fathom a build without a dagger or stealth, I prefer to think outside the box myself.

I’ve come across a number of Venom share builds in tPvP recently but none of them seemed to perform all that well. The only time anyone really benefit from venoms was at the beginning of the match.

But then the venoms were gone by the time you engaged your first enemy.

Had some questions about gear. can you break down what you are using. sigils, wpn stats. etc?

I kind of assumes you were going 3 pieces zerker plus wpns and jewelry and 3 solider armor. But ther ration might be different.
