Basilisk venom because of the low cooldown (30 sec), 1.5 sec stun while you can unleash some good dps. And you can apply it before the fights since it last for 30 sec.

Basilisk has it’s use as described by Samuel.

Dagger Storm could be used in say a WvW zerg scenario for say stability (not sure with recent changes…), tagging, crippling/downing low health enemies, maybe even reflecting a bit of projectiles. Signet of Malice and Dagger Storm are pretty nice together.

Guild of Thieves, could be used for distraction/adding a bit of chaos/confusion into the fight. Though of the 3, this one might be less used.

Not sure you will get a definite answer of “use X and only X.”

I used guild of thieves. i’m like a mafia boss when I’m 1v1ing someone they’re like “haha bich kitten thief you can’t beat me and my pet wolf” and I’m like “lol homie what chu say TOM CHRISTINA ATTACK” then my mafia assassins come and start beating that piece of kitten wolf down while I go up and smash the stupid rangers face into my dagger and stick my gun into her chest and blow her heart out then when my mafia assassisn leave they’re like “come on man this was ez pz call us against the faceroll gaurdians they’re more of a challenge” then i’m like “kitten im the boss of you now get outa here you shady crap face losers” then i take the check point

WvW i would use Daggerstorm more often then not.

It a great whirl finisher that long lasting. You can chain your whirl through several consecutive fields and do leeching, condition clears, chills, fires. All at no ini with stability running.

You can couple it with SOM or IP and get another source of heal , again much more noticeable in larger groups.

You can reflect with it. it inflicts cripples and bleeds and can do significant damage in its own right. This works great in camps or in towers or keeps when flipping and is much more useful then BV and thieves guild.

If you have might on crit stuff it can build significant might stacks. Using a sigil of strength along with might on Crit food , I have gotten 14 might stacks after one Daggerstorm. It will process all of those other On Crit or On hit sigils such as air and fire with a theoretical max proc of three airs and two fires on a single daggerstorm.

You can enter a daggerstrom then use a venom as a utility such as devourers which will then immobilize the enemy as DS continues to run. (a venom build using leeching venoms and loading the venoms one after the other as you DS is rather fun)

Thieves Guild hits really hard too, at least the melee chick does. It’s our “unfair” 1v1 Elite.

Eh, I would advice against Thieves’ Guild. It has a very long cooldown, and at least in duels, can easily be waited out.

Yup I always run basi combined with dev venom mixed up with 6 in deadly arts potent stuff!(quick venoms)

Ha, I just realized I kitten ’ed and called it Guild of Thieves.

Yeah she does seem to do a fair bit of damage, plus the scorpion wire that she uses is nice, since people don’t seem to like being pulled and knocked down. The dude also puts down black powder.

Yeah in preset duels that people love talking about, those that happen in WvW or custom lobbies against two people that know each other, Thieves Guild is is probably useless. Or, well, people that know what to do/how to do with it, against them it’s also useless/less effective.

Against a random person you’ve encountered for the first time, it could work to a very suprising degree. Using Thieves’ Guild also doesn’t break stealth, last I remember, so it has an interesting use there (and people never seem to attack them with AA’s either…).

But yeah out of the three elites, it’s probably the least used. Though we have no clue what build the OP is trying to run or what he’s trying to do… “What’s the best food in the (real) world?” (well we can tell you that living off of donuts is probably not a good way to go…)

I’m not 80 yet so I’ve yet to mess with WvW and im only leveling by pvp.

Lich Form is best Thief Elite.

Yeah, I’m runnning D/P

No question about it, take Basilisk — but I like Thieve’s Guild as a personal choice, it compliments my play style.

Only elites worth using are TG and BV.

DS used to be good for WvW zerging and gaining stability, but due to stability changes, it’s pretty kitten now.

Yeah, probably Basilisk venom will be more fitting for you, as you’ve already discovered.

Thieve’s Guild is fitting for me when and how I run P/D, in sPvP. WvW the little roaming that I’ve done, I’ve taken Basilisk or Thieve’s Guild. WvW zerging, I usually take Dagger Storm.

Depends on what you are trying to achieve.

I like blowing up my roaming enemies in WVW with backstabs before they have time to react so BV really is my only option.

If you want more pressure in sPVP on a node 1v1 then TG is a good option, the CD sucks though.

If you want rangers to dodge their own arrows, DS is a good option.
