So it’s been 4 days now since the BWE2 came to a close, and we’ve all had plenty of time to voice our opinions and concerns regarding the new Thief elite spec – Daredevil.

Now I’m left wondering, how long should be expect to wait to hear some constructive and hopefully promising responses from the devs (Karl to be more precise) to all of the feedback?

I’ve noticed a certain feeling of…neglect within the Thief community. I’ll go check out the Revenant forum for example and find plenty of responses from Roy on many topics, but 4 days post Beta I can hear crickets in this forum.

One good example was a post on their forum reading something along the lines of,

Forum: “Hey Roy! loved the Revenant, but I think a lot of the abilities need their damage increased.”

Roy: “Yeah sure, I’ve increased these abilities by X%, should be ready by BWE2”.

Forum: “Thanks Roy!!”.

Forum: “Hey Roy, not a pressing issue but it would be so cool if you could give Revs a cool mist effect when they dodge, a possiblity?”.

Roy: “Sounds cool, I’ve tried out some things and it’s looking great! won’t be ready by BWE2 but it’s in the works”

Forum: “WOW! thanks Roy!!”

Now with the Thief feedback thread…

Forum: "Hey Karl, there’s about 7 pages of people who all agree the Daredevil needs the following:

• Better animations for staff
• Staff #2 to behave like Heartseeker and stick you to your target
• An evade or at least reduce the animation time on Vault
• Better working GM dodges
• A fix to the painfully long list of bugs we’ve already found

“Any chance you could ease our pain and fill us in on how you’re going to combat these issues?”

Karl: “I’m fixing the GM dodges”

…

Ok that’s something? buuuuut I’m still left wondering where the DD sits at this point.

The fact is I had really high hopes for the DD, I had to change my pants twice before boarding the hype train after DD got announced, however after playing it I ended up feeling a bit depressed (like most people) and doubting whether Daredevil will make the cut come expansion time.

We have 6 weeks until the expansion Karl, if you want the Thief community to stay aboard the Daredevil hype train we seriously need to be fed some hope. Please don’t leave us hanging too long.

And what are engineers and rangers supposed to say ? They will have the least amount of time to get fixed XD

while I agree with you on the general amount and quality of interaction with this profession, we’ve not really had much feedback from any of the professions yet, so I don’t think we can be too upset about the delay this time.

wait and see. if Rev/Herald/Chrono/Reaper get their immaculately detailed feedback and we still haven’t gotten a reply, then it’s a more valid complaint.

I’m not discounting that the Ranger’s and the Engineers are getting the blunt end of the stick when it comes to test time. However from their current running history with A-Net they are usually pretty solid builds. Ranger alone has been dubbed as the “most balanced” class in guild wars period ranging back to GW1. Engineer has not had as much as a impressive track record but no where near the red headed step child that the Thief has been.

Both rangers and engineers are currently playable in multiple angles to enjoy the game. Thief has been broken so many times so that now you have only 1-2 “real” options for play. Ever since the nerf patch a month and a half ago that killed the acro line to make way for acro 2.0 (DD), the class has been left mainly broken. Even before this the Thief has been reduced to only hit and run or hit and die rolls. The Thief community has been holding on for dear life on the forums as well as in game for a response from the gaming gods.

To be honest I do not think they were even going to put the Thief in the last BWE if it wasn’t for the massive data mine leaks, rifle/staff civil war on the forums and the straight out hate that was being expressed for exact lack of communication between the Thief community and the Dev team. Maybe a response for once was brought on from the cheer of GW2’s 3rd year anniversary. Without sounding like a conspiracy theorist, I wouldn’t be surprised if the release was made just to calm the most angry of the community right before the “big announcement” over the anniversary weekend similar to when gas prices drop 2 months before election time.

There better be, or Druid and Forge are screwed. I thought I read somewhere that there will be 2 more BWEs before launch, I may be delusional. But I agree, with OP completely, Rev is their baby, good luck everybody else, have fun with your half baked elite specs.

2 more including BWE2. so only 1 left. sucks for medium armour classes

It’s obvious that they are aiming to release this expansion on the 3rd anniversary, but now that they have pushed it to Oct, they have to make the investors happy this quarter that’s why they have these 3rd Anniversary Sales going on ever since then — to keep the cash flowing on a missed deadline.

So I really doubt that they can push the date even later. The original prediction was to release it at 4Q 2015, but releasing it in Oct makes it 1Q 2016.

That’s a lot of work for so little time.
