What's wrong with kneel/sniper's cover.
too slow , useless . yeah rifle wont be garbage if a warrior or an engi pick up it , they will teach u how to use it , after that ur eyeballs will be filled of bullets . # dead eye
People are looking at it from a 1v1 perspective. When from the looks of it, the Deadeye is intended to abuse his range and damage advantage. But a number of classes have a number of abilities to close that gap and smash your face in.
But the counter argument is this.
Deadeye: This battle has been decided from the get-go! HIGH GROUND!
Fortunately, Thief is being given another mobility skill that is basically a shadow step and a condition placer. I have a feeling that Viper would be the go to combined with Shadow Arts to keep people from running away or dodging when you line up the kill shot.

I think the reason people are looking at it from a 1v1 perspective (and the reason I am) is because of deadeye’s mark. It’s very single target.
Deadeye will be good 1v1, with sword or d/p.
Riffle will be a good +1 weapon.

I don’t see how. Deadeye will have weaker stolen skills (look at WP’s video, something called Steal Precision that deals 120 base damage and gives you fury for 3 seconds or some crap), and will lose combo potential because Steal will no longer gap close. Rifle won’t be used for the same reason pewpew Ranger isn’t used – insane projectile blocks/reflects, obsctucted on flat ground, LoS objects everywhere and general squishiness of the build.
D/P and Sword have good engage capability to overcome the loss of steal teleport.
The malice generation also is a good match to these kits as they provide good engage/disengage via stealth or infiltrator strike/return.
Combine Iron sight with maleficent seven and perfectionist for some sustain and the new dmg reduction in stealth…
Rifle wont be a spam weapon like p/p.
It will rely more on positioning and waiting the right time to shoot.
I think it will be a powerful weapon for a +1 setup in PvP.
If you are 1v1 in a node, and see the mark above your head, that alone will be enough to make most people run for cover and let your teammate cap the node.
Combo that with Sword for example.
get higher ground, set the mark and go in with inf strike. Get a few punches in, stealth, inf return, watch the target blow defenses, kneel and shoot.
Death’s Judgement is 1500 base damage with whatever unknown power number from the wiki. With proper damage modifiers and 7 Malice, DJ is doing closer to 9k. Add in an auto-crit from a dodge and DD runes, and you’re looking at 25k damage every 6 seconds. Rifle Deadeye is a countdown timer. You have at least 10s before those 7 malice stacks are built up and you need to have a plan because some serious pain is coming soon.
That’s a perfect sniper-like interaction for both parties.

1500 is not base damage , it’s under the marauder amulet states at heart of the mist . You can check the Woodenpotato channal .

DJ is 1500 with Marauder Ammy and probably power runes. With 7 Malice (let’s assume we’re running the trait) that’s 126% on top of that (15*721 from Malic itself) so we’re looking at 3390 damage attack. Basically, the maximum powered DJ has Killshot damage. Is that good? Well… kinda? It’s not amazing. You don’t need to have a plan to deal with this kind of damage, you either hard counter it by projectile block/reflect or just counter pressure the squishiest class in the game that can’t move. Or you can apply weakness to the Thief and now he can’t do anything.
But alright, let’s say you can start shooting a target with your Killshots. Killshot crits for like 10k. 7k if the target has Protection, even less if they have Frost armor active or are running some toughness. Now, you what Killshot has that DJ doesn’t? It pierces. DJ will be stopped by pets, minions, other players. Also, and this is a big one, Killshot can be used with Signet of Might, but DJ can’t. Killshot is still terrible by the way.
1 out of 10 DJs will end up killing you, 3 out of 10 will get blocked, 3 out of 10 will be obsctructed. The rest 3 out of 10 will hit, but one of them will not crit and deal like 2k damage.
DE Rifle will be awful.

It’s awsome , isn’t ? deadeyes pay to loss . # LOL
Seriously, some of y’all need to chill. Just leave your feedback after you play the spec during the demo. There is still a crap-ton of time to change what they need to. Stop being salty.

This forum is like this they did the same for Daredevil, it’s going to suck, no damage wtf these dodges etc etc etc and now it is probably the best elite spec in the game.
Nobody knows if a spec is gonna be op or weak until you actually test it, let people say whatever they want. I’m sure DE will work with or without rifle and if it doesn’t then we still have daredevil so people just need to chill out.

Well, they buffed the hell out of Daredevil too. Removed aftercasts from dodges, gave Vault evasion… It will be a bit more difficult in Rifle’s case because it’s bad by design in PvP. It can still be good in PvE if they just crank the numbers up through the roof, sure.

Was going to say, there were serious animation aftercast issues with DrD during the beta weekend they had last time that made the whole kit pretty much worthless. They cleaned up the spec to the point where it just became OP like the rest of the elites, because big surprise, the concept was ill-thought-out.
Deadeye suffers from the problem of that it’ll either absolutely demolish someone with zero means of counterplay and at range, or it’ll just get absolutely rolled because the concept in it of itself isn’t well-thought-out for PvP encounters/making PvP’ing as and against it fun and engaging for all parties involved.
When it proves to be as inconsistent as it will be, the tears will come. Though the PvE players will sing praises as the amount of damage coming from the thief from Tr/CS/DE will be absolutely bonkers on D/D power.

With the changes they did to daredevil to become as good as it is today, I can likely see same treat happen to rifle deadeye. We can judge all we want, but testing will tell. It’s just great to finally have a true ranged option.
Having said that, what I worry the most of (unless I missed that trait) is how to have the same juicy swiftness upkeep as daredevil does, especially if you’re roaming with offwep shortbow, without that then much else falls short for the overall QoL.
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore
