What to use instead of quick recovery now?
The Acrobatics traits needs new theorycraft now^^
Sycaria – lvl 80 Thief
Pain response. /fifteen
If you play s/d you basically have to take hard to catch now, even though how terrible it is. And I would still take pain response in the grandmaster slot because it heals just as much if not more than assassin’s reward by removing condi’s.

No I don’t play S/D. Who would still play S/D after this patch?
I’ve still played it a bit, as i think it’s the most fun weaponset. I don’t like d/p. And I don’t like d/d for sPvP as it rely’s heavily on stealth and you can’t decap or cap a point like that.
Assassins Retreat, Master Trapper, Hard to Catch.:D:DD:D:DDDD
Vigorous Recovery is still quite ok.
Fleet Shadow is really great for D/x to chase and P/D to get out of clusters and swift repositioning, but nothing mandatory.
Pain Response is nice since it reduces opening burst from conditions, but it sucks in long fights since it triggers without conditions.
Power of Inertia, quite ok if you attempt for some sort of might stacking build.
Descent of Shadows, some love it but it’s quite situational, really handy in WvW though.
Fleet of Foot, haven’t tested this one to see if triggers on every dodge it’s off cd or not, so not sure, but even if it worked good it wouldn’t be worth 20 points in acro.
Quick Recovery is not really worth 20 points in acro as it is now.
If you still try to play 10/30/0/30/0 S/D + SB then you may as well continue taking Vigorous Recovery, Pain Response, and Quick Recovery. Nothing has changed that makes other traits better.
all is vain

Making good traits bad doesn’t make mediocre traits better.
I’m going to slot in hard to catch in place of quick recovery.
Hey, gotta give it a try at least.

Just go with Assassin’s reward. It’s not good, but it isn’t an effect that teleports you a random distance/direction at another players discretion. IMO, Hard to Catch is a CC booster for your opponent.

The adept traits in Acrobatics are good and you can always select them for higher tiers
i don’t know why people are whining about S/D not being viable after this update. i see no significant changes to make me want to stop using it. as for the trait.. i’m sticking with vigorous recovery. -3 sec is hardly a nerf.
3 seconds is about -40%, that is considerable. Permanent Vigor is standard for many classes, but obviously not thief.
to you maybe. i’m fine with it. i used to use power of inertia but i figured since i’m already dishing out major damage.. extra dodging would be better.

40% is a large percentage – your feelings on the subject do not affect the way the mathematics work, its the same ratio for you as it is anyone else. Your enjoyment/success with a particular trait/weapon setup does not make it viable in a competitive environment, and therefore cannot be used to judge how well said trait/weaponset is doing on the whole.

I played around with hard to catch some yesterday.
It’s a pretty fun ability. I don’t really have a good idea how it works yet, but it hasn’t killed me yet.
It almost killed me once I was in SR and I got disabled and got revealed from that. But I managed to outrun all of them with shortbow…
I want to play around with pain response today and decide. Because really, I think hard to catch may be necessary with what they did to shadow return.
I still like quick recovery.
Champion Shadow
Better Luck Next Time [BLNT]-Sea of Sorrows
I’m P/D, so with the base init regen change, Quick Recovery isn’t doing that much for me. I actually replaced it with Assassin’s Retreat paired with Fleet Shadow since the 20/24 sec Swiftness is very convenient when I’m running with Shadowstep/Love Shack/Poof Powder. That and being survival, I’m stealthed a ton. Mobility is the good.
It was that or Might on roll.

idk if it still happens but HTC is a Knockdown when used. its useless
It just moves you, but doesn’t clear the condition. Or at least that was my understanding.

Pain Response has been core to my build long before the patch. The cleanse can be a little unreliable, but the regen is great. I recommend you pick it up if you’ve got trait room for it.
I was initially a fan of Hard to Catch. It’s not quite as random as people think it is. At least in my experience, it seems to port you 600 units directly away from the PERSON who disabled you, not the actual disable effect itself. That led to some pretty fun shenanigans where I’d daggerstorm-shadowstep into a zerg just in between the hammer train and the squishies, the hammers would turn around and try to earthshaker me which would actually teleport me BEHIND their squishies (because Hard to Catch procs even if you have stability), then I’d simply shadow return back to my initial starting point once the daggerstorm ran out.
The deal breaker for me, though, is that you get ported away during a stability stomp.

Acrobatics is one of those weird traitlines where many Adept skills are good enough that you’d consider slotting one into a Master slot. +1 to everyone who mentioned Assassins’ Retreat, which is actually sort of good now after the Dec 10th patch.
