I just wwtched a vid with a p/d condi thief and it looked soooo funny he just clicked 1 and 2 and kited while the cinditions ate up the enemy. I just want to know what the most cheesy, dishonorable, anger inducing thief build out there is.

Anything condi with sustainability is good for being cheese.. dire p/d condi krait runes is very strong if you go SA line. The hardest to kill build is guaranteed a permanent evade thief… even d/d soldier and valk mix is cheesy as heck with crit strikes line and backstabs hard. Cheesiest build in the game is nomads turrets…

I used to run s/s, lb celestial condi healing shout warrior with snow leopard as my elite for solo roaming. I thought that was the lamest build in existence.

Im not sure a thief build specifically is what triggers cheese though, more of how you play. Nothing screams lame like failgank and then running away to shadow refuge.

I so need to try a leeching venom unload build to see if I can induce a rage whisper ;-)

Easy to make some variations by switching up runes, gear stats, and sigils.

The basic idea here is that it’s a venom gimmick build. Enter stealth via healing or using CnD, use thieves guild, and then pop all your venoms so it shares with the thieves, then unload on the enemy. It overloads them with a crap tonne of conditions, immobilizing them for about a week while they completely melt. The one thief in thieves guild will even yank them with a scorpion wire for an interrupt. While they’re immobed, you can apply more torment and immob with #3 and #2, respectively, or auto-attack/sneak attack them to put on more bleeds.

Of course, if someone can somehow prevent the condi bomb or escape the immobilize (i.e. enters stealth, full condi cleanse, immob breaker), it might be tough to kill them afterwards. The build has virtually no survivability and relies on that first engagement doing almost all the work.

If I’m running this with a group of people, I’ll sometimes use skelk venom and basilisk venom just so there’s more venoms going around. The thieves from thieves guild aren’t as necessary in that case since I have people to share venoms with.

Of course, you can make d/p builds that are much better as far as being competitive goes, this is just a gimmicky/cheesy one that I have fun with from time to time.

I ran around appearing ‘armorless’ in wvw (just hid any gear I could and un-equipped stuff that showed) on my condi thief and I must say.. a lot of salty orphan tears were shed that day. I came across a melee only warri and all I had to do was immobilize him with pistol skill #2 and let my condis chew away at him.

Another good laugh was a mesmer that tried attacking me whilst I had aggro’d one of those guards.. I just stealthed and managed to find the ‘real’ mesmer and vomited all my condis into their face. They went down fast due to barely any condi removal, haha.

But yeah – anything condi-related and you’re bound to get a whisper of some sort implying said use of ‘cheese’ build. Oh my.
