I have been playing dual pistol since launch but I feel like most of the thieves skills don’t benefit this weapon combo in any way shape or form…. The reason why I’m posting this is because of the October update balancing some of the classes. First off if you use p/p it makes it very hard to incorporate one of the thief’s greatest advantages… stealth. The only reasonable ways to cloak yourself using P/P is either shadow refuge (60 sec cooldown) hide in shadows, or stealing. I’m just a bit disappointed as I feel p/p has been overlooked… None of the P/P skills increase the thief’s speed or mobility either.

Anyone using dual pistols feel the same way? I currently run a power/crit build with scholar runes.

Percision 2k
Crit Chance 60%
Crit Damage 98%

Drop stealth completely and bring along utilities that give you mobility instead. No need to feel pigeon-holed into trying to play P/P as if it were one of the other weapon sets. It’s got it’s own style and flow.

It’s an advantage for builds that benefit from stealth, but P/P berserker is not necessarily one of ‘em. If anything, it’s a crutch.

As for mobility and speed, TeamBattleAxe, summarizes the solution well.

You had Chow Yun Fat (Hard Boiled), Antonio Banderas (Desperado) and Revy (Black Lagoon). That’s enough love for all time.

If you lack speed you can adjust your build with more points in acrobatics, put more toughness to be safe without stealth and pick rolling skills.

I use P/P with healing signet and some +healing power pieces. 1,312 health gained per unload which can be used about 4 times before initiative runs out, then roll for more or steal. I think it is good survive ability and don’t really use stealth but I use shadow refuge for the life steal combo.

I didn’t think a thief that didn’t rely on stealth was possible so I avoided the class like the plague, but some taco thief gunslinger montage changed that. I’m taking my necro of life blast spamming since this looks like a far superior version and I’ll wait till siphoning is a thing you can use.

P/P no-stealth might make leveling more difficult vs. other builds. It performs well @ 80 with Exotic/Ascended (mainly berserker, at least) for PvE, but before that point, it’d probably be much easier just running a heavy condition & stealth build (“god mode” for PvE).

If you’d prefer to level with P/P, then it’d probably give you much needed experience with surviving (and adapting to survive) with the weapon-set. That works too!

Here is hoping that the mentioned support change for #2 is a Blast Finisher. This way P/P can access the profession mechanic and it can also support through combo fields. Of course the skill should be changed to something that is melee range solo or the shot would reveal you on use. Something like a push on use could be great as it would also cover part of the emobility problems (gap opener by control instead of evade/speed), and a melee gap opener (just push, not KB so it doesn’t stun or it would be abusable) isn’t spamable with initiative so you can’t abuse it with our profession mechanic. Win-win change for P/-

Let me know how your thief evolves as you level her up and if you make any changes that you find work better. I dueled a friend from NSP recently who took my build and tweaked it to include venoms. It worked surprisingly well and those duels were some of the most fun I’ve ever had in GW2.

Taco Thief Gunslinger!
I love it. Taquito inspired me to make a gunslinger also and I’ve been leveling it up P/P so I can get proficient. Wearing only power and precision gear really makes one keep on their toes.

Oh really! Please do share your “tweeks”. Skale, Ice or Devouerer? Devourer and Skale sound really nasty.

Venom Gunslinger? That could be interesting. That’s also the funny thing about P/P builds, we have a reasonable chunk of variety. TeamBattleAxe tends toward -IIRC- 10/30/0/30/0, I myself favor 0/30/0/20/20, just as two examples.
