Q:
Which Armor
When i hit 80 i made a bunch of COF runs to get my Berserker set, i took a look at Orr ones but i only bought 2 pieces , like head and boots with soldiers stats now replaced with Cof Berserkers ones.
I put 6 ruby orbs.
Same with weapons. Cheap and effective.
I found it a fast way to get a nice set for thief. And i earned some money.
Cof vendor has a nice Carrion armor set and weaps if u gonna go condition.
Don’t know bout runes, Scholar, Divinity, Thief, there are some but not tried them.
Hope someone will give u advice.
Well no one can answer that based off what you asked. Your gear will depend on your build, skill level, and play style. All of these will contribute to what stats will fit you best.
Maybe post your build and what weapon sets your trying to use. Unless your asking for a build, in which case you should google thief builds till you find one that fits the play style you want.
Zikory – Retired Thief
Zikkro – Zergling Necromancer
Im using tier 2 sylvari armor and anonmity hood transmuted with aidans arm rune of the pack. And I use dual daggers+Shortbow
From what I’ve gathered/read, and sometimes experienced, for runes:
6/6 Scholar – highest damage above 90% HP
5 Scholar + 1 Ruby – Highest damage under 90%
6/6 Ruby Orbs – Next highest damage
6/6 Thief – Similar damage to Rubies when hitting from behind and higher precision
6/6 Eagle – Slightly lower damage than Rubies, very high precision
6/6 Beryl Orbs – Good alternative for Hidden Killer builds
6/6 Divinity – Slightly higher survivability than Beryl Orbs
Interesting choices:
6/6 Melandru – -25% condition/stun duration and high toughness
6/6 Lyssa – Boons when using Elite and high precision
6/6 Hoelbrak – -20% condition duration, high power and uses for might
If you’re new to thief class the best advice i can give you is go CoF, farm your zerker armor, place ruby orbs (cheap) and go kill stuff.
That way you’ll lear on your own skin and by your own mistakes that the most efficient way to play a thief is not getting hit at all, and you’ll improve in dodging and stealth timing.
Then, when you got some experience, find a weaponset that you like, a build aswell and start going towards that goal.
Play the build and finally modify the build to suit your playstyle.
That’s all.
To add to the above, you can craft few Valkyrie pieces for increased Health pool.

I like the looks of my named armor (Nikas armor to be precisely, but the named armors look the same). The rune of infiltration makes some nice damage once you have your enemy below 50% hp (whichs is practically after backstabbing). I still replaced the runes with scholar runes though.
Mind you, this is a berzerker gear so you need to be sure that’s the build you want to run.
I think most people would agree with me though when I say that it is the most common and most fun build for a thief.

I decided go cloak and dagger build using runes of the thief on sylvari tier 2 armor and runes of infiltration on whispers armor(exotic). Primary dual daggers and secondary shortbow.
From what I’ve gathered/read, and sometimes experienced, for runes:
6/6 Scholar – highest damage above 90% HP
5 Scholar + 1 Ruby – Highest damage under 90%
6/6 Ruby Orbs – Next highest damage

6/6 Lyssa – Boons when using Elite and high precision

+1
This basically sums it up!
But let me just correct 1 thing Lyssa gives boons on heal and removes condition on elite.
