Just for fun… what traits would you make baseline for the Thief and why?
Here’s my list…


Revealed Training: There’s so many ways to become Revealed now, it’s silly. So why not give every Thief a silver-lining for being Revealed?

Side Strikes: Every Thief should be flanking the enemy anyway. 7% critical chance doesn’t seem overpowered for putting in the work to stay behind your target. Though I would prefer a damage increase instead.

Sundering Strikes: Yeah, it’s more effective in a group fight. Is that such a bad thing? Not so great when fighting alone, so why not add it?

Shadow’s Embrace: Yes, this is the one that probably should not be baselined, but this is for fun, right? Condition removal… that’s all that needs to be said.

Expeditious Dodger: This is the other one that probably should not be baselined. Why am I listing it? Because a Thief has no natural mobility advantage over any other profession. Mobility is always trait/utility/equipment-dependent. This would at least give a little edge.

Endless Stamina: Is there really any reason for the to NOT be made baseline? EVERY Thief needs to be able to dodge more than any other profession. This may not be much, but every little bit helps.

Kleptomaniac/Bountiful Theft: Perhaps watered down versions. Initiative on Steal is a plus. Perhaps baseline Steal can give 2 initiative while the Kleptomaniac trait can give 2 more. Likewise, baseline Steal could rip a single boon for yourself, while the Bountiful Theft trait could rip 1 or 2 more for you and allies as well as grant you and allies vigor.

Preparedness: 25% more initiative locked behind a traitline? Why? It’s not even tricky, why is it in Trickery? Every Thief needs a larger initiative pool.

Quick Pockets: I would prefer the ability to swap weapons at will with no (or little) cooldown. Until that happens, recharging initiative on weapon swap is the next best thing. Fully recharging initiative would be ideal, but this is better than nothing.


I’ve never touched DareDevil, so I don’t have any valid opinion on it.
So that’s my list. Do you agree or disagree?

Preparedness is really the only thing I think needs to be baseline. Everything else is fine as is, in my opinion.

Shadow embrace should be at least baseline if one takes SA – no one will ever take anything else if taking that line so 2 traits are effectively wasted (in fact it’s more traits as they’re merged)
Actually – don’t get me started on the trait merge.
