Which ascended weapon to get for thief?
Depends what you want the most. From the weapon sets that you said you like to use, the pistol is in 3 of them whereas the sword is in 2, make of that what you will.
IMO, don’t waste your time and resources on Ascended Weapons. Make Ascended Armor but not weapon…make Legendary Weapon instead. It is better for you in the long run.
Full set of 5 unique skills for both dual-wield weapon sets: P/P and D/D – Make it happen
PvE – DD/CS/AC – If that didn’t work, roll a Reaper or Revenant.

Whoa don’t listen to this guy. Ascended weapons over armor any day, all day. You gain far more when crafting a weapon. Legendaries aren’t the way to go, you will always use zerk so there is no point in getting them for the stat change. Ascended and Legendaries have the same stats…just Legendary is a shiney look at me skin.
If you already have your dagger made, and making SB now…I’d say pick up the pistol next. It’s an always useful offhand. Then you can go to the sword. Dagger is a fine mainhand, more so now that it cleaves. Sword still will hit more, but I’d still say get the pistol.
Yea weapons over armor as that increases your dps. Base damage on the weapons are higher and stats too.
I’m waiting for changes before wvw again tho. Haven’t wvw in like a year….

My reason for choosing Legendary is due to the fact that you can change the stats to whatever you want.
In comparison, you need to have different Ascended weapon for different builds — waste of time and resources.
The bottom line is, Legendary provides a flexibility needed by a Thief in an ever changing Meta.
This coming expansion, the ability to forge a precursor, IMO, obsoletes the Ascended weapons.

Personally I would go with weapons. the dps is extremely important for WvW. The armor is good as well, but only if you can afford the infusions for it.
Legendaries are nice, but not required. I personally never change the stats on my incinerator or my bolt. (they permanently stay on zerker) with that said, I don’t play the condi spec in WvW, zerker all the way.
also, if you ever run dungeons and such, zerker is the only meta for thief.

We don’t know that much about the OP. What if he prefer condi spec and want to use the meta build for dungeons? He’ll need to create 2 Ascended weapons for each build.
I’m curious, why did you choose to make a Legendary instead of just Ascended if you’re only using one type of stats?

I also have Incinerator, and Bolt.. why do I have the legendaries?? the answer is very very simple.. the skins.. the reason why I have so many ascended weapons.. it’s due to the dungeon I’m currently running. (each one has different sigils)
He could favor condi, that’s his choice. he could make two sets of ascended weapons for the cost of half of a legendary, which would also give him flexibility..

D/D is still the most reliable weapon set for fast killz. I have ascended everything and end up using that set the most~ especially with Sword always being bullied with nerfs.
Well if you mainly play d/p, then you get d and then p first? “a bow”? I find it hard to do everything with just one bow, mainly due to sigils. So like one has generosity and perception (main stack builder, and a dagger with perception to hold stacks to bow swap – or for p in your case – offhand (me d/d)), another accuracy and purity (magi bow – fallback bow), then a bow for wvw being incapacitation and nullification (for intercepting vaders running from zergs, so ebil). Bows, bows and moar bows…
I never made a legendary so I am assuming that even if you change stats, you still have to replace sigils if you want them to match with stats. Quite expensive in long term.

Well, you can swap to asc bows. Like I mentioned, you are best off having multiple bows for the sigil combinations. I think stats matter less… and asc bows are not hard to acquire but have the stats as well.
If you can roll around in exotics and are absolutely 110% certain that you’re enjoying this type of play and it works for you then.. Move onto ascended starting with weapons.
Example: S/D thief play style. As much as I like flinging around evades with that sword I also like the fast hits from dagger skills so I’d choose the asc dagger first.

Cause upcoming thief specialization.
I have 3 daggers, 3 pistols, 2 shortbows and a sword atm. One zerk D/D set, an assassin S/D set, a dire P/D set and 2 pistols (one zerk one assassin) in case I feel like playing S/P, D/P or P/P.
The power pistols and bow are ascended, as is my power based armor set. Dire imo doesn’t need the extra stats, I have 2.1k condi, nearly 3k armor and 20k health with plain exotic which makes you pretty hard to kill as is. Power builds on the other hand lack defence generally, so it’s worth getting ascended for that. Given you’ll only ever use zerk on a power build 90% of the time, legendaries are only really worth it for the skins as things stand. As Vincent said though, the flexibility is very nice when the meta is sure to change with the expansion.
