Hello. Im going to start to play a Thief, however i have a bit of a problem to choose a race that fits thematicly. I only care about thematics and lore in pve. It doesnt have to be the most effective race because i do not play wvw or pvp, i just want the profession to fit the race.
I was thinking about to playing as a human just because i have no idea which class would fit
Whats your thoughts, which race do you play for your thief and why?
Feel free to suggest other professions to different races to.

In all seriousness, I’ve always felt that humans make the best thieves thematically. Sylvari also fit fairly well.

I think you’re fine as long as you don’t choose a norn or a charr.

A female charr would be nice. Cause big cats in the wild utilises stealth as well

Charr. Ash Legion fit so good with the sneakiness of thief!

Charr is my favorite of the 3 (4) thieves I have. I deleted my sylvari one because of his phrases and animations.

Thematically, Humans make the best Thieves. A race that’s on the brink of extinction and having to create their last stronghold (Divinity’s Reach) while still being agile and felxible to survive and thrive.

Sounds very Thief-like to me.

I think human females look the best but its not my playstyle to play as female in PvP.

I like my human female thief. Cuteness and sneakiness just go well together.

Charr is best thief.

EDIT: Actually go with Asura since you said “thiefs”.

1 of my thieves is asura because alot of the thief animations just look hilarious when done by a midget (go ahead, use pistol whip and tell me that isn’t funny). The other 1 is a bald human male that i made look like the guy from Hitman. Even managed to snag the name Forty Seven. Now if only I could get my hands on a nice silver pistol skin with a silencer.

Charr would be my fav race for thief only if ANET allowed us to create smaller Charrs, not Asura small but at least something similar to a tall human, the head and neck mostly smaller. BTW I have 4 thieves Human, Asura, Sylvari and Charr… 3 of them lvl 80

Everybody knows Norns make the best thieves. Just be sure to make them as tall and biscuitous as possible.

Female Asura. It’s all about the wacky quotes and animations. That, and being short enough to shoot most folks’ kneecaps out.

storywise human makes the most sense i think. plus human armor male and female looks pretty good. and you can choose things like growing up in the slums and wanting to be in the circus.

Asura, because academic work is all about stealing!

Also, they’re short and even harder to notice than the other races.

Yeah, I probably should have done that. He was my first thief and I regret not having him anymore. For that reason I won’t delete any more thieves though.

Anything but Norm.
Having you arm lenght actually bigger than your skill range is simply terrible >_<

Asura. Since they’re so short, they can hide in the weeds.

Lore-wise, Charr fit the bill most accurately.
