Anything works, really. My recommendation is to just look through armor galleries to pick whichever race you think will look best in medium armor.

I made a Sylvari thief because they have a decent personal story and I thought she’d look good in a coat.

Asura give you a slight advantage. Due to the subconscious mind, players will tend to attack the bigger races (Norn and Charr). The Asura animations are also harder to see and therefore dodge/avoid.

I personaly rolled a Sylvari and changed his skin (bark?) to black. Looks pretty cool.

Norn, because a giant tip-toeing around the battlefield is amusing.

This^.Also they have the cool dodge blur.I personally chose asura for PvP reasons.
But now i am kinda sorry,because you just can’t see their armors and weapons.
It’s like they are wearing toothpicks instead of daggers.They are just too small.

Sylvari have cool looking culture gear. However, if you’re going for kittenty femme fatale look than human is your choice. It’s the only armor piece that shows under boob.

I went sylvari because I felt their mystery lent to the atmosphere of the thief, however you can pick any race it doesn’t actually have any impact.
